Not at all.
Steam has a nasty habit of leaving my desktop brightness oddly low (yet the mouse is not) when I've quit a game forcing me to fiddle with the settings to get it back or restart the machine. Kept happening years ago and when I played the Mafia 2 demo, it happened then too. I find Steam to be generally annoying but I could probably live with it if it wasn't doing the brightness business all the time.
