Hello Photo Gurus,

I know facebook isn't exactly the pincale of photo hosting, but for photos of casual events I use it exclusively and colour accuracy is important to me.

However, facebook has a nasty habit of chewing up and spewing out the colours, and very unreliably too - some methods that seemingly work fine some times don't in a few months time. I've tried saving for web and devices in PS and embedding sRGB as well as using lightroom's facebook plugin, but today I have an album that is just not playing ball either way.

Anyone know if there is a way I can consistently get round this?

I'll be very grateful if so. :)

Thanks,
Peter

Sorry this isn't very helpful, but you are aware almost any steps you take to retain colour accuracy on the web will almost certainly be wiped out or largely undone by everyone elses non-calibrated inaccurate screens?

May I ask what you upload to Facebook that needs to retain colour quality whilst destroying everything else through compressed jpegs?

You've really solved your own problem in the OP - Find a better photo hosting service!

Facebook will resize/recompress any images that doesnt meet their size format which will generally make the photos looks rubbish. Resize your photos to 604px on the long end before uploading, I have reasonable results when doing that.

720 now, FB increased the size of the photos a month or so back :)
