Hello everyone :D

What I'm after:

High battery life
Big resolution for size of screen
<£1k... ish

I'm not too bothered about specs at all...

Suggestions anyone? :)

Lenovo have some offers on the X200 and X301 at the moment, have a look on their site.

The X301 can be had for just shy of £1100, and has a 1440x900 13" screen, also got a very good battery life and weighs around 1.4Kg so is very portable.

Decent specs too, though only a 64Gb SSD on the offer version which may be a bit of a limitation.

Wow that's pretty sexy, thanks wij!

64GB SSD is more than fine, I won't be using too much space :D

13" was a bit smaller than I was looking for... but 1440x900 sounds great

Unfortunately the glorious days of 1400x1050 4:3 laptop monitors are long behind us, and most laptops seem to be running at 1280x800.

You know, obviously this depends on your requirements, but as a portable computer, I think a 13" screen is actually pretty good over something larger. It decreases the width of the computer, and makes it easier to transport and use on the go. If you need a desktop replacement, well, I guess 13" isn't for you.

I myself have my PC at home, with my 22" and 15" monitors attached, and a 12.1" laptop for mobile computing. I haven't found myself wanting yet.

Also, you could buy a larger monitor, and have the laptop output to that when you're at home or the office/whatever.

Jesus this is harder than I thought it would be. I know I said I didn't care about specs in the beginning, but I care now :p

The closest I've come to what I'm after is the Acer Aspire 3820T - Long battery life, good specs, between 13-15"... but although 1366x768 is ok for a 13", I would like something larger.

Here are my rough requirements
Code:
[b]Display:[/b] 13/15"
[b]Resolution:[/b] 1440+
[b]RAM:[/b] 2gb+
[b]Storage:[/b] 60GB+ SSD - I'm about to do some research to see if SSDs are actually worth while.
[b]Connectivity:[/b] 802.11 g/n
[b]Battery:[/b] 8+ hour battery

[b]Optional Extra: [/b] bluetooth + gpu would be awesome
No budget now really... I'm willing to save for something I think is worth it :)

So if anyone feels like helping me with the search, please do :D

A Dell Studio 15, with 86WH battery? Should do the trick. You can customise with a 1080p screen. They have a HD 5470, iirc, some Dell can be customised with a HD5650 (about thice the power of the HD5470).

EDIT : You'll have to go 17'' for the 5650.

Hold on a minute though. It appears the Studio 15 deosn't support switchable graphics. Which is a real shame :/ That alone could increase the battery life tremendously. Why in holy funk's name didn't Dell support that feature.
