If your friends jumped in the canal would you? Before you purchase any item especially something as expensive as a mac you should draw up a list, for and against and do plenty of research. A Mac is a great productivity tool but not so hot on the gaming front or Blu-Ray too.

I know now why the dogs homes ended up full of unwanted Dalmatians a few years back. :(

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, Franco. Take Leeroy with you as well.

That being said, don't buy a Mac for gaming. It'd be a total waste of your money and the Mac.

Mac's are okay on the gaming front but I'd only be looking at the high spec 27" iMac's or Mac Pro if you wanted to do gaming as well as everything else on the Mac. ;)

Then again you would probably be better off if you already have a mouse/keyboard/monitor etc and just build your own PC to your own spec/budget.

I wish people would stop saying Mac's are overrated and overpriced when they are not.

I own a MacBook pro as well as the desktop pc in my sig. I strongly wouldn't reccomend a mac for gaming. They can barely manage the 3d match engine on football manager ffs!
There are some (non gaming) positives about macs, but they are heavily overpriced. If you compare the cost of like to like hardware between a mac and a pc, the premium you pay for the use of os x is shocking.

Agreed - well except for the price of the Mac Mini which I love but the latest model is overpriced and I think even Mac owners (of which I am one) would agree on that one. If only they had given it an i3 and 500 gig HD as standard then I would have gladly (well maybe not gladly ) paid the £649asking price.

I used to say mac's were overpriced and overrated, until I got my macbook pro. They are expensive but they are absolute quality. Not good for gaming, stick with a pc if you want to game. For design work, photo editing and general ease of use a mac wins hands down.

my macbook pro battery is running at something like 15% of its original capacity. it is on 3yrs old and can be left on unplugged for more than 20min. So i am not impressed with their "quality".

After 3 years the battery on my Sony Vaio wouldn't even charge, so its not really an apple specific issue.

What software are you using, out of interest?

I'm currently learning how to use Aperture right now. It has some really nice features, although I feel I could recreate some of the final products in photoshop on a pc, the way the program is designed and laid out is very good and is an absolute joy to use.

Also using Photoshop/Illustrator and dabbling in iMovie which is surprisingly good for bundled software.

I also like to keep a journal, so I'm using MacJournal for that. Another great piece of software.
