Will a CoolIT ECO drop my CPU temp?

Hi Peeps,

My overclocked bundle is running at around 45C idle and goes to around the mid 60's during gaming. Prime05 goes to 95C after a few mins. My brother has reseated the heatsink (titan fenrir) and reapplied arctic silver 5 and its still the same. Would a coolit eco drop my temps or have I just got a hot CPU?

Thanks:)

It may drop it a degree or two. You'd need to go high end air or water cooling to see a marked difference.

The OCuk voltage settings are sometimes higher than is necessary for every chip. Some chips can do 4Ghz volted a lot lower than others. You may be able to adjust the voltages yourself to trim off some temps. Or even drop the overclock to a lower clock if it really bothers you that much.

Idle 45 is fine.

Mid 60s during gaming is fine.

95 under Prime95 is not so fine. You won't find much that'll stress your CPU as much as Prime95 in the real world. Mine hit 91 degrees and I wasn't bothered. I only dropped it to 3.6Ghz to save power. (about 40 watts at idle)

mine hits 97c under prime with a corsair h50 so its not your cpu! i think custom water cooling loop would be better... i'm currently in the process of specing a loop for my self not many people like to help out when it comes to watercooling tho i have no idea why as if its only for the overclocking elite or something.

woah that's hot

my Ven X got low 30's idle, ~50 gaming and ~70 prime95 with a 4GHz D0

I'd guess that's either a problem with the cooler mounting or the IHS on the CPU isn't on properly in which case you can't really do anything about it because taking the IHS off can split the die

You can't do much with the RAM voltage but you might be able to drop the vcore. I've been working mine down by adjusting qpi/vtt voltage and vcore. I have vcore at 1.1875v and qpi/vtt at 1.275 for my 3.6ghz clock. Now low 70s with my Noctua cooler, was reaching 80s with stuff on Auto.

due to the nature of watercooling your likely kill components or a whole rig if you dont take care in preperation and the build so you should have the knowledge to spec your self after plenty of research to ensure damage does not occur
