Best card for less than £75

wow seems to kill frame rates.

i struggled to get decent fps on my old GTS250

althou i was playing in a much higher res, 1920x1200, so u should be ok

Some places in Wow run at <30 FPS on an I7 920 with an ATI 5870.

Never consider WoW as a determining factor for a hardware upgrade, the game is just poorly coded.

But that £79.99 4870 is great value, and it has sufficient cooling for that card.

Well since I want to play wow, shouldn't that be determining what card I should get.

How do I know if my mobo will run GDDR5

i think the point is, that it doesn't matter what setup u have, wow would still run bad

my GTX480 handles wow ok most of the time, but there are places when my fps can still drop.

luckily its not gone below about 40FPS yet, and most of the time i get >60

Sure. But it probably would be useful if you can say what spec is your system as well (CPU etc).

Like others have mentioned, WOW is more CPU dependent than graphic card. As for GDDR5 rams on the graphic card, you can just ignore as it will run no problem...don't need any special requirement on motherboard, as long as you got a PCI-E slot.

That 4870 512MB seems decent for the price, however that's Grade A OEM and only comes with three months warrantly. I'd probably have a look for 2nd hand 4870 1GB (£around £65-£70) instead of 512MB (taking the future screen upgrade into consideration).
