ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570

It's on par with an ATI 9800 Pro, have one in my gf's laptop.

Really? the 9800pro is ancient. I'm not saying your wrong but I would have hoped the 4570 mobile would be better than a 8yr old highend card.
Where did you get this info? I would be interested to have a read, cheers.

Actually it's more like the X800GT

Compared to the desktop ATI Radeon HD 4550, the mobile 4570 features a higher core clock (680 versus 600) and therefore performs a bit better than the desktop 4550 (if the notebook manufacturer uses GDDR3 memory).

And 4550 falls in the same rough area as 9800 XT, X700 PRO, X800 GT, X800 SE, Mobility X800, X1300 XT, X1600 PRO, HD 2400 XT, HD 3300, and Mobility 3470.

Considering my gf's laptop was £380 and is actually more capable in games than a £500 laptop with 4500MHD, I'm pretty happy.

interesting, so we've not moved very far with mobile adaptors unless you want to spend big bucks. Having said that, at least it's better than the Intel chipsets Dell etc still insist on using.

Sadly so, it's pretty much GMA, 4570/310M, 5650/350M, and then the high-end boys in terms of pricing levels. Very rare to see a cheap laptop with a midrange graphics card (if any), which is why I snapped up the Tosh L500D-16M.
