I am really enjoying Titan Quest

Unplayable you say? Hyperbole? Nail...on...head. apart from the bug I mentioned above and a slight tweak to the end boss game mechanics I would be hard pushed to notice any differences from when the game first came out to now. Seriously.

As for item upgrades you get things called relics and charms (RC). You have to find 3 or 5 matching pieces respectively in order to complete the RC. Once complete the RC is awarded some stats and a completion bonus. You can then fuse this RC to a weapon, shield, armour etc further improving its stats. It can be a very fine balancing act choosing between damage types, resistances and so on.

You also get things called artefacts which require scrolls and/or completed RC's to complete. You can then equip a maximum of one artefact to your character to further improve stats.

As with other arpg's you get char classes and skill tree's to choose from. You get awarded skill points for levelling up and completing quests.

So as you can see there is a plethora of 'upgrades and so forth' that'll keep to tweaking for hours on end. Plus there is always that looting mentality that keeps you going in the hope of finding that next purple (legendary) item.

Just put this back on and plan on playing it with my bro he has the steam version i have retail, would it be ok if i got the v1.17a patch or do i need 1.17?

Thanks

I believe you'll need the same patch. Certain files have to be the same for multiplayer to work.

Well for ten pounds on Steam it is tricky to go wrong. Lots of gameplay, monsters to kill, items to loot and upgrades to craft?

Sounds good to me. Thanks again for this thread and for all the information, I do not think that I would have really checked out this gem without it.

just played it for a couple of hours I am up to the Giza plateau so not sure how far I'm into it? But it is a really good looking game I much prefer it to torchlight.

Act 1? there's 5 acts plus a few bosses to kill along the way :p to put it in perspective, I'm in act 4 epic difficulty and I've put about 50 or so hours into that char already :oO then you do it through again on legendary!

I started playing it recently! Done about 20 hours and in a little Chinese village now, can't remember what it's called!

Couple of hours to get to giza plateau  Are you just running through and not killing anything?

Very enjoyable game, especially until 4 in the morning with friends. I doubt I'll ever play it again, but it holds good memories for me. I do with the same company would make TQ2.

Nope, Steam can't play with non-Steam copies, and vice versa. At least it was like that last time I played it.

Unfortunately as you probably know Iron Lore went bust. Some of the devs broke ship and licensed the engine; so whilst TQ2 is off the cards atm, Grim Dawn is being made

nah i used to play with 2 mates (1 of them and me got steam and the other got retail) and it works fine, but i dunno if it had anything to do with playing through hamachi :D

I've been playing this online with my bro. I did notice that I had to run steam as administrator for it to work (Win 7) though.

Absolutely loving the game btw. 33 Hours into it and I still havent left greece... can't resist the temptation of restarting :(

There's the 1.17 patch, which is the unofficial FanPatch, then they brought out the 1.17a for digital versions (Steam etc).

It will still show up (in-game) as being 1.17.

So, is this patch newer than the 1.30 patch, seems odd that the final patch is 1.30 and then they do a 1.17 (or 1.17a) patch for everything after they went bust? What's with the funny numbering :(

I honestly didn't have a clue about the existence of a 1.30 patch.

Having looked it up just now my understanding is that the 1.30 patch is for the original Titan Quest.
Then you install Immortal Throne and the patch numbering starts again, with the 1.17 fan patch being the latest.
