I just want some help to cover myself.

Looking to buy an item on the bay, the seller added notes that he would accept £XXX but says couldn't add the option of the buy now price when editing.

Been in discussion with him and he's accepted an offer. He wants BT to avoid fees but to cover myself how else should I pay him?

Do it through paypal If I were you. Its the only real way of covering yourself on ebay. Unless your going to collect the item then cash is ok.

yeah thanks for the advise.

If I do a bank transfer on credit card, does that cover me at all?

I don't think that is a possible option - a bank transfer is simply from one account to another and relatively impossible to get your cash back if it goes wrong.

Yup, one way.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. "ebay is for scammers and overpriced merchants", is what I heard the other day, I lol'd as I had to admit it seems that way nowadays.

yup sounds fishy to me, tell him you'll pay via paypal or to gtfo :)

unless you like lighting money on fire in which case you can send it to me instead :p

Tell them to relist it as buy it now, if he/she refuses and kicks up a fuss over the few £££ then walk away. If they don't mind then you get your item and remain covered.

do not send me any money :D

na dont touch witha barge pole. the amount of scammers on there is quite comedy. i used to sell on there for a living i dont use paypal anymore and i only buy stuff if i can pick it up

I started selling stuff then stopped when I worked out it just wasn't worth it. Paypal even hold your fees for 21 days now it seems (Might only be 'valuable' goods), and if the buyer doesn't leave positive feedback you're stuffed.
