gtx470/480 with older 775 platform

I'm in the same situation, we'd both see more benefits from a faster GPU and upping resolution (i'm same res as you atm)

775's quads aren't 'bleeding edge' by forum standards but overclocked are great for console ports IMO

Grab a 470, I have one running an E6600 @ 3.4ghz and I've no doubt having an i7 would be faster but I can't justify building a new rig at the moment and hey, what a way to send out the old girl in style. :D Metro is awesome at 1080p dx11 and very playable indeed.

I have ordered a GTX 460. It will be running on an IP35 Pro, it only has Pci-e 1.1 I think, so the 460 will be running at 8X yes? I;ve read reviews that the pci-e scaling means I'll probably only lose a few % points. Does this sound right? I'm only running 1 card, I won't be hindering it by not running in a pci-e 2.0?

PCI-E 1.1 16x is equivalent of PCI-E 2.0 8x. You'll lose 3-5% at most. Problems appear when you run more than one card in that rig.

h20 yeh I was considering a 470 but don't really want to upgrade unless my current card is struggling
tempting though:)
