Which TV to buy? Panasonic TX-P50VT20B , Samsung PS50C7000YKXXU or the non 3D Toshiba 55WL753B LED??

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've got £1600 max to spend on a 3D/Non-3D TV. I have found three of the best tv's for my price range, which are stated in title.

Originally i was just going to go for the Samsung 3D 50' Plasma, because of the cheap price etc but after reading a few reviews, plasma's are still experiencing screen burn especially while gaming. This lead me to an LED, but ideally i want a 50' inch + screen, so a 3D LED will be £2000+.

Should i go for an exceptional 55inch LED by toshiba but give 3D a miss or gamble with one of the 3D Plasma's??? The Panasonic is a serious piece of kit, but is missing such items like 2D-3D Conversion and internet tv.....(Samsung includes these)...But then Panasonic are bringing out a new range of plasma's which do incorporate these technologies so maybe a firmware upgrade may solve these problems???

Anyone who has the Samsung, feedback will be much appreciated? Especially on the gaming side (PS3 3D)....

Cheers

Forget LED-LCD at this size as they have pretty poor screen uniformity and look at LG's PK990 Plasma as it'll be comparable to the others in 2D, £500-£700 cheaper but without 3D.

i installed a mates pannasonic TX-P50VT20B at the weekend. Without doubt the best tv I have ever seen. even SD via sky looks amazing.

enjoyed the ps3 3d games pack (except pain which is garbage)

If you can get a 50VT20 for ~£1600 then it'd be a bargain but I think you'd be better off going with a 50V20 as they can be had for ~£1400 if you know where to look!

I would avoid 3D sets for the time being, unless in the case of the VT20 you just want the best picture quality available and the 3D is just a nice bonus on the side ...

Forget about 2D>3D conversion ... it's a complete gimmick and something you'll try once and then never touch again - it's simply not possible to convert a 2D film/tv proggy into 3D if it wasn't originally filmed for 3D and it'll just look awful - some might notice some better depth perception but that's it!

The Viera Cast service Panasonic offer gives you plenty of internet content and there's more being added all the time.

As far as gaming is concerned you need not look past a plasma as they offer the best experience bar none so forget LED/LCD sets if you want a seamless gaming experience!

Again as I always say have a gander over at AVForums for all the top tips/advice you could ever need/want!

Totally agree.

Another point is there is next to nothing out on 3d at the moment and the release schedule doesn't exactly look exciting.

LG 55LE8900 is the best LED TV in this size range. Full LED, not edge. Check the reviews out. Only problem is, it's hard to get at the moment.

Another vote for this, I looked at all the 3D TVs and was left decidely unimpressed by all of them. The tech just isnt there yet, if interest is still around in a year or 2 then they may mature into a viable option, but right now sat on the couch with a pair of heavy, uncomfortable glasses looking at a flickering image is not my cup of tea.

I plumped for the 50" V20 in the end, it arrived yesterday and it is bloody fantastic. :D

Well, i tested out the Panny V20B today, its a nice piece of kit but wasn't so impressed with the blackness of the screen. I dont know if it wasn't calibrated correctly but in Cinema, THX and game modes the screen looked far too bright and the blacks were like my 2007 Toshiba's Regza LCD...???!!!

Has anybody else experienced this... I hope it is just calibrated in-correctly, the 3D was sick.....

You must mean the VT20 if you tried out 3D but the V20 has the same black capabilities just minus the 3D.

Where did you "test" the TV as if you were just doing so on the shopfloor then it's highly unlikely you'd have been able to judge accurately what the black levels were doing as the lights would wash them out pretty badly!

Sorry it was the VT20..... I did view the TV on the shop floor, so it may explain why it was so bad.... I would have just thought the blacks would be a deep, rich colour; such as the current Samsung LED screens..

I really am in two minds about Plasma or LED, especially the LG 55LE8900, which is a FULL Backlit LED screen but non-3D... I can get the VT20 for £1630, through Quidco and then 'very.co.uk'.... Bargain but at the same price i can get the most modern tech, Full 55' LED screen??????? Help...lol

Whats modern about leds ? they've been around for years, as have the lcd screens they light, plasma is still the most modern tech, and still the best for big screens, i always said i would never buy plasma, untill i started installing them, in home they look fantastic, such a natural looking image.

I was mentioning the Full Backlit LED LG panel, which is currently the most modern tech for big TV's, except OLED of course, lol. I do agree with you that plasma's output a great natural image and thats why i am so puzzled about which one to go for..... I always thought the new LED screens were the way to go for both Films and Gaming but with the VT20 and other equivalent Plasma's i just dont know anymore....lol... Seriously when i purchased my 2007 Toshiba 42' Regza LCD 1080p TV it was simple; just wanted a 1080P screen and 8000-1 contrast ratio...

Does anyone have the Samsung PS50C7000YKXXU or seen one in action? Just want to know if its worth while of considering over the Panny???

Have you looked at the Samsung ps58c6500? If I can't get the LG LED I'm tempted by this - as thin as LED's with plasma PQ. Pretty good value for a 58" plasma too.

The Samsung ps58c6500 looks good but i would prefer the 7000 series instead, especially as it is 3D.... But then having a 58' Plasma will be sick..... Can anyone find a review on the PS50C7000YKXXU or the PS63...?? HDTV Test hasn't and cant find one anywhere...!!??

Ok, just seen this article on HDTV-Test

http://http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/toshiba-glasses-free-3d-tv-20100828833.htm

Toshiba are already rolling out 3D tv's without glasses this xmas in Japan, so im thinking Mid 2011 there will be a whole new range of 3D tv's... With this in my mind, im going to go for a huge LED or Plasma......

saw this yesterday, although your link wont work for me, you still have a limited view point for 3D though, so i can see glasses being the norm for a few years.
