HAF-X owners - a couple of questions

I am thinking of replacing my 800D with a HAF-X. Not due to lack of cooling as I have my 800D modded (solid sidepanel with 2 x 140mm fans), but due to the constant battle with resonance/vibration which happened after installing after market fans (nothing to do with sidepanel mod as it happens with solid sidepanel on too, and I've tried almost every decent fan brand) and no amount of sound deadening will sort it. I also think my case is slightly warped as I have to struggle every time I want to install PCI cards which don't line up and to be honest I think this is the main factor contributing to the problems as it causes the boxes around the HD area to vibrate, and the sidepanel to hum when I attach it (either with or without fans). I bought the case 2nd hand so I'll never know the background to it.

Anyway, I'm at a crossroads now...I am thinking HAF-X or 700D. I know what to expect with the 700D and it's cheaper then the HAF-X on OCUK's site right now. I also have just about every make of aftermarket 140mm fan to play with so no additional expenses.

The HAF-X I have no experience with. So I have a couple of quick questions for HAF-X owners.

1. Any resonance from sidepanel. Does it go on and off easy enough. Any sticking ? Do the screws that attach to the sidepanel mar the paint ?

2. Did the sidepanel arrive in perfect condition as some people on other forums had issues where the cabling inside scraped the inside of it.

3. Are the front and sidepanel fans quiet. I will be mounting an ECO 240 on top so won't need the top 200mm fan.

4. Are HD trays the same as previous HAF's ? I had a HAF 922 which has the same trays as the 932 and didn't find them the greatest for isolating vibrations.

5. For watercooling, even if it's something basic like an EVO 240, is it recommended to reverse the rear outtake on this case ?

6. Will the gpu duct with 120mm fan fit if you install 2 5970 cards which are over 12 inches.

Thanks

1) All fine

2) Yes Mine has one scratch on the inside.

3) A little him, but i can hear the DVD in the drive over the top of the fans.

4) I have a SSD as drive c: so no vibs, and the mounts have rubber gromets.

5) The case comes with a 140mm, my Water cooler H50 is a 120mm (the case has mounts for this), and yes i reversed to blow HOT air out.

6) I have a 120mm fan in the GPU duct, and running two GFX 480, the fan goes on the HDD side of the duct

Hello
I replaced my 800D with a HAF-X

1. No resonance from any of the case, Does go on and off every easy, much better than 932 in every aspect

2. Arrived in Perfect Condition

3. I replaced my side fan 200m with my haf 932's 230mm and they all have 10v mod adpaters to lower there speed to 600rpm from 800rpm and then the big fans are silent.
i replaced the back 140m with a silent one

4. I have two ssd's,a samsung F3 500Gb and a F2 ecogreen 1.5tb and i cannot hear no vibration, resonance or even when they are on.
Unlike my haf 932 or 800D when all you could hear was a low pitch brrrmmmm.

5. No experience with this.

6. Not sure, might be really close to the fan because ati cards have a power connections out the side instead of the front like nvidia.

Hope it helps
tom

Thanks guys. Most helpful. The only negative I can think of is getting one with a scratched window. That's would drive me batty.

Still on the fence about it...HAF has got the advantage of superior aircooling and I actually like the looks over the 800D which I am finding a bit boring. It also seems to have no vibration issues which is great. The 700D it would seem has more room to work with compared to the HAF which may or may not be much of an advantage when it comes to my 5970's, and cooling would not be a problem as my sidepanel has 2 x 140mm fans mounted. But then again, a few on these forums have complained about resonance in the 700D case and while I think most of my problems on my 800D are down to my case being warped from day1, I wonder is it risky trying another Corsair case.

my nest case will be the haf x. i like the looks of it.if the windows scratched when it arrives send it back.that would eat away at me too.lol

Problem is Coolermaster Europe don't have spares yet, and OCUK would insist on sending the whole case back to them which is a hassle as I'm in Ireland. I have only seen 1 comment about a scratched window on these forums though so maybe it's uncommon.

coolermaster support is ******* useless i've spent 6 weeks trying to contact them about my haf 932 top fan failing they still ain't replied and frankly it's ******* me off.

That's interesting mate. I had an issue with a fan on my HAF 922 a year ago. I went to the Coolermaster shop (the NL one) and sent an email to sales asking if their 200mm fan replacement was suitable and they sent me a new fan free of charge the following week. I broke the clips on the front aluminium bezel (the panel which sits on front of the 230mm fan and clips off) of my ATCS 840, and again I was sent a free replacement bezel. Perhaps you should contact the sales guys ?

Do you know where i can get the contact drtails cause i'm borderline just switching to a silverstone or corsair just because i hate companies with terrible customer support!!!!

Lucky git, i am into 4 days waiting on my question.

Why does Coolermaster not supply mounting screws for there fans. I order 2 fans from them to put in my HAF X, and no screws to mount...

Now thats cleaver...

Got an email from coolermaster telling me 2 packs of screws on way, and also asking for pics of scratch on case.

Lets see what happens next...
