The only was you can sue is to prove negligence.

You will NEVER be able to sue for negligence in a game of rugby. Unless it was televised. Or you have 5 witnesses to back you up that it was broken because of negligence or it was done maliciously.

Agreed, who exactly are you going to sue? Unless you can prove that the injury was the result of some pretty serious foul play or not 'licensed' within the game I don't think that even injury lawyers (4 u) will take your case.

reminds me of shooting stars when vic reeves all of a sudden said " WE ARE INJURY LAYWERS FOR YOU" ... but really who you going to sue?....- at most you could probs sue for an infection if it was someones fault, but i don't know the NHS' culture on compensation...

i just asked for the best injury lawyers- not opinions
try not being able to walk properly for the rest of your life, having hyper sensitivity maybe for life, not being able to wash or bathe.. having to get taxis, buses going to practise nurse 3 times a week due to an infection and trying to study for your last year of university. try being in hospital for a week not being able to move. i am not suing the NHS they do a great job. Its the AU at my university for offering no support. I am just wanting some legal advice - i might not even go through with it

I really wouldn't bother as I have yet to find anyone who has found the process worthwhile. Yes you may get some money at the end of it but the people I know who have claimed have been under so much stress they haven't found it is worth it.

I know this isn't your situation but I do find it amusing those adverts where someone trips over some packing string, sues her company and then shows her carrying on in her job happy as anything. I wouldn't expect a warm welcome after coming back from claiming against my employer!

Edited to add - just read your reply and do feel for you mate, not a nice thing to have happened. I have a busted left knee after my mate slide-tackled at 5-aside and the right knee busted after getting knocked down on my motorbike and driven over.

I still didn't/wouldn't claim

Hang on a second were you forced to play rugby? Or did you play it because you wanted to?

I dont get why you are claiming or attempting a claim. If you played rugby its a high impact sport lots of people play and get hurt its the name of the game.

The only reason I could see your claim being valid is if someone set upon you outside of what was considered normal play and snapped your leg for no reason If the result of the game was a normal injury then I dont get what your claiming for.

Also btw a lot of clubs have sport insurance I know mine do as I pay for it but not all do and if you choose to play for a club that didnt have this then thats sort of your own fault.

Do you think the best place to determine who the best solicitors engaged in sports injury are is a computer overclocking forum? I mean, really, this is your best idea?

Who's the claim against? Depending on your level of play, it's likely the club itself has some level of insurance that you might be able to look into.

Rugby is a physical sport and not to be obtuse, but it's sort of expected. My Dad had four of his front teeth kicked out, his nose broken several times and finally his knee-cap kicked off before he was forced to stop playing. You say "try not being able to walk properly for the rest of your life", but my Dad's on his 3rd knee operation now and that's exactly where he's at.

Well if its a Uni they should have sport insurance. Hence why you pay the membership fee for AU I always thought. The only thing here i can see a problem is that you have choosen to play the game so suing them might not be the best idea plus why would you want to give someone else money for doing something the insurance should pay for?

Put your case to the AU in detail and explain the action your about to take if they dont come back to you with reason offer and help and support. Make sure its sent recorded post etc and give them a reasonable time frame.

I wouldnt want to give the case to injury lawers that will take a high percentage unless i had no other choice.
