Finance haters gonna hate :-)

How could i of got a new one for £140 odd a month ?, you are wrong.

New OTR price is about 9.5k, with finance thats going to cost how much ?

That's what you're paying for this and you could get discounts on that price if it's list price.

prolly push payments over 200 a month which I don't want.

Which is what I don't understand, since you said earlier that money wasn't an issue.

I've driven one and I think they are great... and though a car noob I have owned plenty of motors before, including some much more focused performance orientated ones

Apart from the little Suzuki and the smallest Kia it was the worst out of every small 'new' car I've driven. Believe me - I drove a lot (10-15) when my GF wanted to finance one of these cars.

I would have thought the finance company.. ?????

Correct - so it doesn't matter who has got the other £2.5k, the end of the day to OP has paid someone £9.5k for a 2 year old i10.

If you want to know, though why I dont know, it's because it was the same repayments as on the A Class, I wanted to keep a car on the road for the same price, not pay more per month for a little city car.

Paying out more a month for a little car was not what I wanted... just a like for like swap.

To be honest a good 2 pages of it was about how Chiiives is the scum of the universe for working part time unpaid at 15 in a Vauxhall dealer.

You couldn't be more wrong. no one has said it's a bad thing or anything like it.

But money isn't an issue apparently so why does it matter?

My post was in jest.

You need to look at these deals in their entirety though.

If someone offered you a Chevrolet Matiz for £50 a month for forty years, you wouldn't accept it just cause the payments are lower than your A Class.

I let my father test drive all the competition and the i10 came out on top... I drove it, felt fine to me so thats that.

People keep mentioning 'I could have got a new one', your right, I could have, but not for 9.5k in total...

You CANNOT compare the price of a financed car to that of a unfinanced one... a new i10 on finance is a lot more than 9.5k total repayment, if you cant get that I give up (well for 5mins lol)

Thats just being silly tbh, why take things to extremes, your not proving any point other than your bored :)

Does your father have the same needs as you and your wife then? The same financial situation and so on.

Did you let your father test drive your wife first - save you the bother of finding a good one :p

Methinks your wires are crossed, the statement being rebutted was
Any dealer nationwide would have bitten his hand off to get 10k for a second hand one
This is blatantly incorrect, I think if people can't understand where the money goes, it doesn't show a thorough understanding of the situation, so you have to wonder if it's all just sensationalistic blagging on some ridiculathon(tm)

Your car new can be had for 8600. Taken over 3 years at 8% this is a total amount payable with deposit of 500 is 9100 for a brand new car.

Cheaper than your deal.

Congratulations on buying your wife a lovely new car OP. It looks great and considering you picked it up for such a steal, you've done well.

It's a common trap to end up paying way over the odds on automobiles these days, I think you snapped yourself up a bargain!

No, but if you where living a comfortable monthly existance and already budgetted £150 a month for car finance, and wanted to keep the exact same standard of living, have a £150 a month as a criteria for finance sounds quite sensible, providing you don't go totally stupid with it.

The OP says he doesn't need to worry about money at all.

If that is the case why would an extra few quid a month worry him?

lol, your a funny guy :D

Same needs CAR wise, ultra low milage and he was also replacing a old A Class..

The charts he made of every small car compared with the i10 and Merc were impressive. Why do leg work when someone you trust already has :)

If you read what I posted you'll know I wanted to pay the same as what I was paying on old motor... thats my fixed budget for the town runabout.

Didnt want to spend a penny more.

Whatever. The fact (and my actual point) is he could have got a better deal from a different dealer and had the car delivered.

I notice you don't pick up the 'sensationalist' blagging of 5% or 7% APR or the incorrect assertation that the new price wasn't an OTR price, but then 99% of the time you only seem to post here to argue.

It's not a bargain, it's just the car of my choice at the budget I allow for 'the car'

Why would you worry about spending a penny more when you said quite a few times that money isn't an issue for you?

If you hadn't got so shafted on the finance deal or demanded a car that had done 2k when your wife does ultra low mileage you could have got a much better car/deal.

Put another 2k on your car and you double the mileage and lose quite a bit of value. Put another 2k on a car with 25k on it and you lose very little. The car will still work.
