My BFG 8800 has just started artifacting yesterday :mad:

Going to attempt baking it later but in the meantime what's a reasonable equivalent these days?

Thanks :)

A HD5670 would be fair bit faster I think, but something like a HD5750 would batter it.

please don't bake you card. Use a something like a heat gun.

You need to give a budget but you are looking at:

gtx 460 768mb>gtx460 1GB->GTX470->5870->gtx480

As the best cards in the price bracket (470 just shading the 5850 these days IMHO)

I just want something with similar capabilities, anything too powerful is going to be bottlenecked by my aging E6600 I'd think. Around the £100 mark and well below would be preferable.

Hmmm... the only thing that concerns me with that is the 3 month warranty, why is it GradeA OEM? Returned, faulty and fixed?

E6600 aslong as its running 3gig or higher still does fairly well even with recent graphic cards.

The 8800GT is probably a good shout as a direct replacement - good price still great performance.

A GTX460 would run very sweet even on a E6600 tho aslong as its running 3gig or higher (almost every single E6600 in existance will do 3gig perfectly safe on stock voltage).

You'd be surprised, the E6600 (overclocked) is less of a bottleneck than ya think. The 470 yielded a 25%-40% increase over my 280.

Mine wont overclock, have had it up to 2.6Ghz before and everything appeared stable, prime, 90% of games and all desktop usage but IL2 caused BSOD's which were fixed by going back to stock.
