I am due an Interval II service.

£299? From what I can see most of what is checked is included in a normal MOT! I have looked at specialists in the area and they mostly charge about £250-£280 so not exactly much less. I mean - is it actually worth getting this kind of stuff done?

Obviously oil/filter and brake fluid need to be changed. But that doesn't really justify £300!

Since when do you get all your spark plugs etc changed in an MOT

Hardly any of the stuff there is done at MOT time.

Of course its worth getting your car serviced

£300 is pretty good for an Inspection II, they will also go over the car in some detail, checking bushes, seals, input shafts etc ...they will even grease the locks. Yes it's worth getting it done. It's not like you have a full Inspection II every year anyway. It's a good deal more comprehensive than any MOT, and all sorts of stuff is changed that isn't anything to do with an MOT.

BMW, like most dealers, will charge through the nose for work and parts but if I owned a Beemer I would certainly have it seviced by a BMW main dealer.

The fellas who I normally use to service my car would do as good, perhaps a better job than a main dealer but full BMW service history is hard to beat come selling / part ex time.

As Fox says, sparks etc are not changed during an MOT.

300 notes sounds pretty good for what you are getting tbh.

I suspect he meant whether it's worth going to BMW over indy or whatever.

It certainly doesn't read that way - he asks if it's worth it after quoting the indy prices.

What I can't work out is if you have to pay extra for the brake fluid or not. It says they change it - but then it says it 'may' cost extra? So I'm confused.

They do brake fluid about every 4 years or so iirc, it's not part of the normal service schedule. I had my brake fluid done independently of the service (at a later date), but they did not change it with the Inspection II anyway.

Edit: Oh nm Fox got there first. And is most probably right with his time frame.
