BMW M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

sub 15mpg average? What?

People I know who own the new M3's average around 15MPG, of course this is not motorway MPG, but usual too and from work, odd country road blast, maybe bit of dual carriage way.

In the M3 CSL I was averaging 16-18MPG, the new V8 M3 does drink more. Stick it on the motorway in top gear and the new M3 is not bad, should see close to 30MPG return from cruising around 80mph.

ah, thought the m3 was an inline 6? or are the newer ones v8?

i'd have the mustang coz it sounds better. :D

They are both V8's!

Yes the Mustang sounds better at idle and moderate acceleration, but WOT and the M3 sounds better, fantastic intake noise from the M3 which the Mustang does not have. :)

Mustang all the way for me, dont care if its inferior or not, it gorgeous, is more than capable and has an immense soundtrack to it.

335i (Similiar performance as the 2005 V8 GT Mustang) cost to insure = £900
Evo 10 FQ360 cost to insure = £1800
Mustang cost to insure = Will not insure

Most companies will usually at least give you a quote, can't get a single figure out of any company.

I can't explain the ferrari, i can only imagine that it is because there are not many about and those that do have them don't crash them.

Evo 10 - Try a JDM import...

UK MX-5 £650 - Eunos Roadster - £1500.

being a considerate road user the engine would be at low revs or idle so the mustang... ;)

I've looked into it. I live 20 minutes away from Bill Sheppherd - they must be getting sick of me.

Yet due to some recent S197 crashes I can't find a single insurance company that will touch me. Not even for a stupid quote like £5k.

They've all basically said "Sorry, you're under 25 - come back in 4 years", some even saying I'd be unlikely to get it while under 30 for a good price.

Ah yes, under 25 Oooh!

Andi.

To insure a Mustang you need to call A-Plan or MCE, they specialise in such cars.

For example:-

Mustang with mods declared with 577BHP was £550 per year.
M3 CSL was £680 per year.
EVO X is £850 per year.

Insurance companies hate Japanese cars, oddly the most powerful car the Mustang was the cheapest to insure and those above prices are all with A-Plan who I use for my car as they always price match online companies and give excellent service.

Both said I was under 25, so they wouldn't touch me with a barge poll :(

this is normal with specialists

The insurers who advertise on the VXR forums (chris knott) wont touch you on a VXR unless you're over 25. Even when i moved to the volvo, they were still the cheapest for me this year.

Mine's shot up to 17mpg (avg) now! :D

I've insured my modified Camaro with Adrian Flux since I was 23, they may be worth a try. Usually comes in between £500 and £800.
