Worms: Reloaded!

Well as a seasoned WA player, I'll give my option:

WTF:

Why is there no decent server browser?
Where is shopper mode ?
Why are all the physics feeling like WA at 150% speed ? If I wanted that I'd play WA in speed mode. Roping is iffy.
Why on earth can't you look/scroll around the map during the 5 seconds ''are you ready'' mode ?
Why on earth can't you check your weapons menu during the other players turn ?
Why is there a 4 player limit?
Why is there a 4 worms per team limit, I'm used to playing 8v8 in WA occasionally ?
Why isn't there an option to use the ninja rope as much as you like, unlike the current 5 swings limit ?
Why can't you easily customize your own game rules, but instead have to choose from the rubbish standard scemes ?

WA is superior in every single way. It has more features, the interface is more polished, and the multiplayer is FAR more fun.
I can see how this can seem fun to people who haven't played worms in a gazillion years, for anyone who has played the 2009 version of WA or later and especially online a lot, I can't see how this will still be any fun, it's basically a cut down, dumbed down and sped up version with fancier effects.

My Solider hat turned up in TF2 (I didn't buy the main pack, I was gifted it)

Really enjoyed Worms all night, but it does need the option for 8 units, and a proper LAN mode

I Agree with everything this guy said.

I purchased in the hope Team17 listen to the community like they say they will.

Why is the UI sooo MASSIVE?

It is pretty dire port.

1. Roping sucks, no momentum bouncyness etc so all i can do is move a little left and right with it no fast side to side of map or up and over movements. Plus feels very heavy.

2. Phyics are too heavy.

3. Menus are really confusing like the ammo menu when making a gamemode.

4. No shoppa mode i had to make my own even tho i really duno what the hell im doing in the options as its really not clear at all. Not like it was in WA.

5. When i start the game it minimizes constantly i have to trick it to full screen by clicking it a few times on the taskbar to get it to stay fullscreen and visable and stay there.

I were about to buy it untill I read what people are saying.

I used to have worms tourneys in my room at uni, passing around a wired keyboard and mouse was rather hectic, but people loved playing it.

I hated it though, because people would always kill me first cos they thought I was good at it, when in fact I'm completely rubbish and keep on hitting my own worms with bazookas and grenades :(

As a non worms player - so I guess looking for a popcap style game to play with friends I enjoy it. I don't disagree with any of the above, the menu's are very confusing. Server browser doesn't exist (corrected - available through private match) but if you want to play with friends either they can join you through steam or you invite them - so that one works for me. The 4 worms probably suits my lite play - although they do need to address that one, if the physics is faster then I want it slowed :)

But the game is fun, hopefully they can patch in an 8 player limit and physics can be sorted. Browser and interface won't get changed but they're icing on the cake imho. It's price point should have been less than £10 imho though.

What's the 2009 version of WA - I didn't realise the game was supported till recently?

Server browser does exist, just choose to go for a Private Match, and you can then browse games :).

It wasn't an issue for me as i'd tend to prefer playing with friends, if randoms then i'd probably go with the game auto selecting opponents than choosing from a list of servers.

There are a few bugs though I am sure they will be ironed out shortly.

For one that missed WA, I am really enjoying this. Harps back to the original with nice graphics.

The server browser is a little buggy but I had one game with a forum member by looking them up on my Steam list and three very ejoyable games with randoms.

Customize > Manage team > Manage game styles > Creat game style.

You can infinite whatever you want. :)

I dont think there is much of a problem with the physics or the menu system, some of the weapons have been removed and some added but it is still quite enjoyable. There aren't quite as many game modes but there are some new features. The campaign is quite enjoyable.

A bit disapointed at the 4 worm limit though. Why did they need to do this?

I agree with everything you have said, although I only played Worms on the PC as casual player.

Another huge dissapointment for me is they have just ripped the single player campaign straight from the 360 Armageddon 2 version. I thought with this having a different name we would be greeted with a completely unique campaign :(

So is this still worth getting? I didn't get chance to buy it last night.

I haven't played worms in a long time, but I loved the PS original and Worms Armageddon.

If you don't already have Armageddon 2 on the 360 then it is still definately worth a buy. Me and the girlfriend were taking turns each last night on multiplayer and it was great fun.

Hopefully the community and Team 17 will start to add options expected by PC users though, as at the moment this is a straight console port with a few extra thrown in.

I don't quite get the buying of campaigns, what exactly has it unlocked for me? I have bought all the landscapes, gravestones, hats and forts, a campaign and two weapons but what happens once the weapons or campaigns are bought? I don't quite get it.

Love the game, completed the tutorial and on the 23rd mission of the 1st campaign and its good fun.

Campaigns unlock the 5 31+ down the right side. Mostly just severe challenge ones like 1 worm against 8 enemies i guess, at least thats what the first 1 was.

Has anyone looked in to how modable the game is? I've been looking around the games folder which contains text files with all the parameters for things like the weapons and worm physics. I've not tried changing anything yet, but I imagine you'd be able to recreate the super rope this way... hopefully.

Is it right that you can't make custom schemes with weapons such as the banana bomb until you've 'bought' it from the in-game shop?

I think there's potential for a good worms game here I just hope they continue to tweak it based on feedback.

I tweaked a few things like camera and worm scale. Some modding is possible some not. I presume as well that it will break MP so keep a backup for mp usage and mod files for sp.

You cant have shoppa with banana as you have to buy the nana first (grr)

No files to mod for rope as far as i could see.

Converted a WA map to WR. Just needed to open, change size, add alpha channel and fill the solid stuff white and rest black then save as tga 32bit.

Made a basic shoppa mode too but lack of options is killing me. That and the crap roping physics. :(

CBA - Get a crate before you attack
AFR - Attack from rope with nade, etc. Never attack on ground without a rope.
KTC - Kill the cow - If someone attacked without rope.

Use rope extensively to get around map and attack from.

Very fun. (well it was in Worms Armageddon)

Of course in the pic you can see the ai still cant use a rope for shoppa mode. :(
