Catalyst 10.8 is scheduled for 25th or 26th August

Why don't you at least try them and see?? Don't understand people who are not willing to try..

It's because they love coming to forums to moan whilst thinking anyone cares about their plight. Chances are, everyone is on 10.8 but just lie and moan for the hell of it when they claim they're on earlier versions. Having bought ATI for years on about 20 different system configurations, I've yet to run into an issue. Any issue. I cannot be that fortunate.

You are very fortunate. Although before the 10.7/8s I cant remember the last time I had any problems with graphics drivers. Saying that, if they were so perfect there wouldn't be the need for so many hotfixes a few days/weeks later. I am usually unaffected by this as I never seem to play the game(s) affected.

Talk about a troll type post. The last two driver releases I have simply "installed over the top" as you have said. Then my PC has failed to boot into windows - what the hell else am I supposed to do? Run driver sweeper EVERYTIME I install ATI drivers. You aren't supposed to need to according to ATI and I have never had to before the 10.7/10.8 drivers . However, as an enthusiast, I am aware that all hardware setups are different and that these issues can happen to a small minority.

Troll type?!? You mean my post isn't good enough for the full troll award? :( *must try harder*

And what OS are you using? Driver Sweeper was designed and programmed long before Windows 7 came about yes it was a good app when we all had XP and wanted to swap between ATI and Nvidia or vice versa but with W7 it causes more problems then it solves and the fact your having problems updating drivers simply reinforces that point.

I don't mean to have a go at people but even though know one will admit to it especially after a failed driver installation but a lot of you constantly tamper around with both the hardware and software of your video cards - hacked BIOS flashes so you can get voltage tweak springs to mind, registry hacks, overclocking, 3rd party apps to over ride default driver settings just because the idle clocks are bit high, running driver sweeper. I don't do any of this BS and I don't get any problems, coincidence? Now put that aside how many of you have installed beta drivers? How many of you have some half baked 3rd party utilities/shareware/beta/alpha software installed or running in the background? Yes everyone’s computers different but I’d wager most of the problems listed on here are down to the user and not the AMD/ATI.

Well I haven't had as many systems as you but I can honestly say hand on heart I have NEVER had any issues installing video card drivers on any PC I've built (either for myself or for friends). And that applies for both ATI and Nvidia cards both sets of drivers I have found to be very stable and reliable.

I am using windows 7 and have HAD to use driversweeper AFTER the ATI drivers have messed up my system and the ATI uninstall feature didn't fix the problem. Have not tampered with my graphics card in anyway and nothing on my system is currently overclocked. I would agree with you though that a lot of the problems people experience here are probably due to tampering with their system.

Installed these over 10.5s and so far so good in games:) Just a small overscan bug that some others are having too. Its just a small annoyance but no biggie:)

I agree with Regulus and Freddie in a way.

I have had 4870's, 4870x2's and a 5970 over X38, X48 and X58 boards and have yet to come across driver problems going back to the 9.x and possibly late 8.x era drivers

A friend of mine who doesn't post on here has swapped his hardware as much as me, had 3870's in crossfire, 4890 in both single and crossfire (which he is running now) and we were just saying today how we don't get these problems with any of the drivers

For some reason my overscan settings are going haywire with these drivers. If I alt+tab out of things I often find the black borders around my desktop are back, and after opening CCC I see that it's still on the correct setting. Easily fixed by nudging the slider back and forth, but it's really starting to get on my nerves. Anyone else getting this?

afew people above (including me) has said this.

I just updated to 10.8 and got a BSOD to boot. Anyway, drivers installed now and seeing no improvement in GPU scores. Not that it matters because the card is plenty fast already. Actually no, I saw an improvement of 2fps in Stalker on average but hardly worth 'OMMFG, INPROFMENT!!!!!1111' about. However, after an hour of Stalker and hour of mad TF2 action, it seems .. I don't know. It works. That's all. I have a 480GTX for the weekend so will compare numbers for myself.

I had a few problems trying to install these straight over the top of 10.5s - screen going black (monitor still displaying) then BSOD and BSOD upon widows boot up.

After a system restore I tried uninstalling the previous drivers through control panel and Catalyst Install Manager.

Installed first time after the reboot with no probs at all so far :)

After installation my overscan reset, just went into the settings and applied it again no real issue. Most people that get issues with ATi drivers are crossfire users.
