Gurkha ordered back to UK after beheading dead Taliban fighter

It is not a permanent occupation.

How many are fighting us.

How many have joined the police/army and other goverment agencies
How many are living there lives as normally as possible.

One far outways the other

do you think they would have took the jobs in the army and police had their been a nice variety of well paid jobs to choose from ?

maybe you are the type of guy who if our country got invaded would greet the occupying force with kisses and hugs, maybe enroll in their police and army to kill other brits who are against the occupation when there are other means to support your family.
but i don't think there are many like you.....but thats just my opinion ofcourse.....personally i think a lot of the people of aghanistan support those fighting the occupation in any way they can, be it food, supplies, shelter, weapons or anything else they can do.

Many hated the Taliban and there strict law enforcement and ways. So why would they not join the government who they can elect.

seeing as we are not repressed and killed at will by our government, I would not support any invader.

How about Iraq, we have done surprisingly well in Iraq and the new government is doing surprisingly well. As there will always be huge turmoil as the country settles down for several decades afterwards.

Do you also assume war lords in Africa and other countrys have near total support from the population?

I thought .338 was the 'daddy' nowadays anyway? (e.g. L115A1 rather than AW50).

It is the standard for the Marines (the real ones not the yanks). I was issued the L96AW which use the 7.62mm NATO rounds. afaik the A115A1 uses 8.6mm (.338) Lapua Magnum round.

electing a government by choice and supporting a western army who took over by force are very very different.

sure we have...please do send me a postcard when you go on holiday there:p

The .50 is the more powerful round but the .338 doesn't have the rainbow like trajectory the .50 has.

The .338 round in conjunction with the new L115 is peaches and cream as demonstrated by two single shot kills by a Para at a distance of 1.54 miles, about twice the rifle is designed for.

I am a big fan of its predecessor the .308 / 7.62mm L96 and shoot with one regularly and I do backflips if I hit a man sized target at 600 meters given wind factors etc. I didn't think AI could better the L96 but they have done just that with the L115.

Yes wetook over and installed an intern government, they can now elect who they wish. They don't have to support us, they can however support their government and wish we were not there. Or and possibly more likely prefer the current set up o er the Taliban.

Yes Iraq is doing well. Do you expect things to change over night. That is never the case it will take decades.

If you are on about Craig Harrison, he is Household Cavalry.

Hell of a sniper, and proves the L115 is what AS said it would be, much to the chagrin of the Americans.

doing well ?
so given a choice would you rather go to iraq on holiday the way it is now or say before we invaded ?

what has holiday destination go to do with it.

Again you expect to much, changes take decades.
Personally I'm happy a person who launches chemical weapons, kills and tortures for no reason is out of power.

well you said it was doing well....i took that as its a nice place to live :p

killer on the loose in a school and has killed 10 children....bomb the school and kill 200.

Why would you assume that. Especially as I have said several times it will take decades to settle down.

What is this killer thing about?

it means to get rid of the killer ....20x more have been killed with our invasion.

it means to get rid of the killer we killed 20x more than he did.

And how many are freed and how many saved over the next decade or hundred years?
So it's fine as long as less die, but lets not worry about those living conditions. or the fact in the long run they should be better off.

Assuming the country does eventually stabilise.

Again do you apply this same logic to war lords in africa?

who knows the answer to that....but one thing we do know is that many many more have died through our actions.

as for the living conditions....before the sanctions what was wrong with living in iraq ?

i know nothing of them so can't compare.
