Can someone reccomend a air cooler that can handle 4ghz under 60 degrees

CAn someone reccomend/ spec me a air cooler that can handle 4ghz overclock with ease, and still fit high heatsinks ram in. I was going to go for the noctua NH d14 however cosair GT ram is not compatible.

This will only be like a 3-4 month cooling solution until i get custom watercooling.

I have considered a Cosair A70?

what heat sink tower/ fan combination shall i use that will give me equal or similar performance as NH d14 and can still have high heatsink RAM

i was thinkin of the thermaltake Frio?

I think the Thermalright venomous x leaves the ram slots clear. Doubt it will keep you below 60 degrees but it's about as good as you'll get.

Will depend a bit on your motherboard as well, im using a Thermalright ultra extreme on an asus p6t deluxe v2, ram is ocz reaper, possibly the tallest ram available. No issues with clearance or blocked ram slots.

Not the clearest of pics, but i still have room if i ever go to 12gb, but ill only ever be able to use 25mm depth fans on the cooler. But as mentioned above, theres no air cooler that will keep a 4ghz chip below 60c.

i had the TRUE120 and it does cover over the first ram slot so my Corsair dominator wouldn't fit.

thats y i switched to the H50.

dont know about the venomous, how much is it changed from the TRUE?.


also, the temps would depends on the CPU as well, some get hotter/need more voltage etc.

mine gets to about 80-82C with IBT

In reviews ive read, the VX performs about 2c better than a standard TRUE, mine is lapped though which should improve performance.

The cooler & fan don't it's the fan clips that block the first slot.

You could use cable ties, bit ghetto looking but it would be very secure.

Are you guys aware that intel and amd measure temperature in different places?

For the op, if it isnt intuitively obvious that different processors will give out different amounts of heat, you probably dont want water cooling.

That corsair isnt going to keep 225w below 60 degrees unless its outside and snowing.

In fairness this particular one is a bargain relative to a dual socket workstation. Pretty stupid purchase if you're playing games as far as i can tell.
