Radeon HD 6970 "Antilles" launches in December

It's funny how quickly things change. ATi wer worshipped like Gods in this forum not too long ago. Now that nVidia are competitive in the market again and many are switching sides once more, ATi's drivers are suddenly a massive pile of poop...

I would bet good money that when people swing back to ATi again these problems will magically disappear. Until they go back to nVidia again...

Aside from that, it's people being brainwashed by posts from the aforementioned. Sometimes it is proactively sought out when people are seeking a reason to justify a new graphics card purchase! :p

Now, as I said previously I prefer nVidia so I'm certainly no ATi fanboy. This post just reflects what I observe as being the mentality of many forum members here. Or maybe I'm just ranting. It's 04:09 by God...

+1

That was just due to power limitations.

And heat Max TDP would be way of the scale although im suprised we havent seen a 460x2 yet as they are much better than the 465/470/480 in het and power requirements.

Im interested in the 5850/70 replacement but its got to offer something good to be worth the outlay.

Yep, been going on for as long as I've been posting and reading here ( a long time!). Sometimes it's funny seeing posters turn camps from month to month after some obscure review convinced them the 'enemy' is the way to go now. Next month it's different again. What never changes is the passionate debate and brave defending of their little choice they made as the best card ever!

Im not 'allied' to either company, and I dont favor one over the other. I simply choose whatever is better for the money.

For a long time I went with mid range crossfire builds, and as I had a P35 then X48, so SLI wasnt an option.

GTX 460 SLI is definately a lot better than 5770 CF was, I dont consider Nvidia to be an 'enemy' just because I used ATI cards for some time :)

Not putting you down or anything bhavv, but just making it clear to people that a 460 is more powerful card than a 5770, so it's no surprise the 460 SLI is 'better'.

I'm with you on the 'choose whatever you perceive to be the best at the time'

Think I might have a blast with one of these when they are out. Might have to update my trusty old Q6600 though :(

I've got this annoying upgrade itch that bothers me much recently but have to hold on to it for a while yet. There's no much in an upgrade for me tbh and even if 6870 turns out to be really good and priced well, I'm not going to benefit from it much seeing that games don't push my OCed 5850 too the limits yet. I much rather get a waterblock for my 5850 to keep it quiet under extreme stress conditions :D Also an SSD would be a more reasonable upgrade for me overall. Gaming at 1680x1050 hurts as no graphics upgrade is required at all :(
