E36 318is Coupe - Work to be done

Well the Skirt only needs a bit of paint repairing, hardly worth replacing for that, gonna do it myself, although I reckon Chips Away would have been cheaper xD
 
Fair enough, just the picture makes it look like the damage could be nasty and I understand these things to be quite flimsy. I have to remove mine at some point as one of the seals is a bit broken, not looking forward to it. :p

Oh and...post up more info about the car. ;)
 
What you wanna know?

96/97 model year M44 B19 Engine, 117k miles, average condition for the year, engine runs sweet, no timing chain rattles, rear top mounts not checked, but not expensive to sort, will check them soon, probably replace with the reinforced top mounts.

Has the toolkit in the boot and the warning triangle but the glove box torch is gone :p

Ah, 8 button OBC and the older wheel. :(

Dual zone climate though, which is always good.

Was just interested to see what you'd managed to pick up. :) Sounds like you got a better one that me...but then I knew I wasn't buying a minter. :p

The ASC is proving to be great fun in this weather as I often find myself playing a game of 'will the ASC light come on' when taking corners a little bit quick. So far I've only set it off on our lane (gravel) and by accidentally putting a rear wheel through a patch of mud at the side of the road. :)

26th April 97, which is the 96-97 model year, unless BMW model years dont run from September 96 to August 97?

Year of Manufacture is shown as 1997, which presumeably was between Jan 1st and April 25th so you can decide which is the actual model year if pedantry worries you that much :p

I play a better game called, "start the engine and turn DSC off", I play it every time I get in the car.

It's more that its just habit. I get in, and turn it off. Obviously there is no need when driving to the shops, but its natural for me to do it. Rather than turn it off when I want a play, I turn it on when I feel the conditions warrant it.
 
As DSC and ASC differ I'm more of a man for having a lesser system. ;)

I don't drive hard enough to set it off with normal driving, only on loose surfaces have I set it off, haven't even set it off with all the rain we've had, so I see no reason to turn it off really.

Well, it is at the exact point of one of the body clips, so I suspect some vigorous banging to engage the clip broke both the clip and the paintwork which has flaked off.

Some n00b has run a 5mm bead of silicone between the gasket and the sill, ofc it has welded itself to the sill so is gonna be a git to get off no doubt.

I have a new Gasket and body clips so just a matter of removing the skirt, prep, paint, replace, however, I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it off (ooh er misses).

I don't want to force it and create more damage.
 
Helpfully Haynes and Bentley only tell you how to remove the rubbing strips not the skirts. From a quick look at mine, there are a couple of rubber plugs at the rear wheel end in the arch area. I've not looked underneath for anything. It looks like they should pull off from wiggling mine though.
