GTX465 or GTX470?

What kinda overclocks can be expected from a 470?

850 on the core is about as stable as i can get my cards in sli any more and it starts to nuts in games or bsods

so 800+ core which will easly beat a 460 @ 900 core

i would not suggest a 470 unless u going sli go for 460 sli nice and cheap can be got on oc for like £300 quid

850 is the highest most people get stable on the max "safe" voltage MSI Afterburner allows when overclocking a GTX470. A few people get 800MHz stable on stock voltage - most people need between 1.04 and 1.075 to get 800MHz stable. On stock voltage most people hit 750-775MHz.

You can pretty much guarantee a 30% OC and probably 40% over stock with very close to 1:1 performance gains with overclocking.

The clock speeds are a very optimistic to. 850Mhz with a Fermi based card is very dodgy.

A lot of people (probably over 70%) will hit 850MHz @ 1.087v on a 470 and probably out of the ~30% that don't 2/3rds will hit 820-840MHz stable.

Depends how GPU limited you are in the scenario.

You mean CPU? I got phenom ii x4 1055t @ 4ghz

Just tested my 470

In crysis a 33% overclock gives 20% increase in performance

Vantage, 33% overclock gives 22% increase in performance

There is big talk that fermi oc scales 1:1, as far as my gtx 470 goes, its not the truth, far from it.

With full unlocked bios right upto 1213mv i can do 880 around 1163mv :D depends how hard your willing to push it.

Nah 26% of that that 70% are only hitting over 30%~ of the average while staying stable.

800 is pushing it.

800 pushing it? tons of people on these forums hit 800MHz easy and are getting upto 850 on 1.087. I've just installed 3 of these cards, 1 for myself and 2 for friends that went straight in at 800MHz 30minutes OC Scanner stable - not pushing it too far on other peoples cards but I bet they would do 820-850 stable.

How are they noise wise and heat, i know they originally got slated in reviews but id prefer to know from people who have the cards and live with them

If you play with vsync on in most games they are very quiet. Its only in intensive games or when rendering low complexity scenes with no fps cap (churning 1000s of fps) that they start to get a bit noisey.

Its only really artifical benchmarks that make them hot and noisey.
