Catalyst 10.8 is scheduled for 25th or 26th August

I have to say, I'm amazed with recent changes to the drivers. After initial **** ups with resuming from S3 state I managed to fix these issues with uninstalling whatever **** was installed with ATI Catalyst Install Manager and installing only the components I really need (drivers, etc, excluding CCC). S3 resume works fine as always and I don't really feel the need for CCC any longer.

Now, more great news from me. Flash Hardware Acceleration works with unofficial overclock through Afterburner! Looks like the new beta fixed the issue and now when watching videos (with 2D/3D profiles set up) on YouTube the clocks ramp up to 400/900 at 1V only :) Couldn't be happier tbh, all the issues fixed and I'm skipping the forthcoming ATI refresh till new Nvidia/ATI cards are released.

good to hear :)

im having zero problems with them. sound works, video acceleration works (though im still stuck in 3d clocks until i close the browser down completely). ive not not come across any issues with any games ect. it all just works lol

with 10.8 and AB with OC profile on, i get driver fail.

with 10.8 and AB without OC profile on, i get all good.

Get the latest Afterburner from their forums - beta works a treat :) It doesn't turn on 3d profile when you watch flash content meaning you get 400/900 from standard clocks - no temp issues, no stuttering in videos, no driver crashes = win.

Driver has an issue with Eve Online. When using multiple displays, Eve will freeze whenever you move the mouse. Disabling other displays or reinstalling 10.7 fixes the problem.

I don't want to install 10.7 that much though, since it's given a reasonable boost to TF2 (untested, just felt smoother during play)

Try uninstalling the driver with custom option, select all, reboot, install manually again with ATI Display Driver and HDMI/DP Audio Driver only, reboot and see what happens.

I always say don't upgrade unless you have a reason to, do you need the slight performance increase these give over 10.2?

I'm fed up of the issues I've had with 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8, thinking of going back to 10.5a and sticking with them.

I disagree,I always update every month without issues and have been doing so since pre 8.5s so you know how far back I go,its not about performance increases but fixing bugs too.

End of the day I never have issues,I also don't overclock so maybe thats why?...I'll say no driver can be perfect because we all use different hardware, games, software etc....so some people are bound to get the odd issue or two.

Done some benchmarks because my headphones are bring repared, so figured I'd crunch some numbers.

Currently on 10.6s, ran Vantage, 3 passes just on the two GPU texts and the feature tests, rig in sig, default performance preset except for 1680x1050 resolution set to be native.

GPU test 1: 23.64fps
GPU test 2: 21.07fps

GPU score 7639

Now going to install these 10.8s over the top and see if they do any better than that.

10.8:

GPU test 1: 23.55fps
GPU test 2: 20.88fps

GPU score 7592

So... very slight decrease, but hardly something to roll back for, now just to make sure they're stable. Then I may try overclocking again, not done that for a while, but I have a new fan now :3

Hi all

I have a ati 5770 single card that i use for a media centre and windows 7 desktop work and never play games much. I have 10.2 drivers installed could you tell me which is the best version to install or update these drivers to.

thanks for any help

10.7 or 10.8 have gpu acceleration for vlc but any versions should be fine for you and you will not see any difference if you dont game.

10.8 also added gpu acceleration for browsers, although I think ff4 beta is the only one using it currently (it's quite snappier though :)).

Actually the smoothing of internet video in 10.8 has really improved low res streams (like tvcatchup), although it's disabled by default for some reason. Ati have some work to do with it still, the gpu is easily capable of tidying images up more, but it's a welcome start imo.

My issue is when I'm alt-tab from a 3d game. If AB is on with OC profile applied, and hardware accel is on in flash, then I get driver = ghey.

If hardware flash acceleration is enabled and overclock kicks in - that's what happens. I never run flash+game at the same time.

Finally, a "fix" for my jumpy lines every time I start a flash video.

I suppose this is because of it going between 2D and 3D clocks? Is there any way of stopping the jumpiness altogether?
