24" Samsung P2450H vs. 23" Dell U2311

After about a week of searching, reading and constantly changing my mind I finally narrowed my choice down to two.
Those two are:

24" Samsung P2450H
23" Dell U2311

The only two things I can think of I really do that will bring the quality of the monitor into question is programming (meaning I'll need lots of windows open at once) and watching HD films.

And so my question is: What benefits would I see from spending £90 more and losing an inch?

Thanks in advance.

You can't link to competitors on here.

The main difference is the Samsung is a TN panel and the Dell is an IPS. The panel type effects viewing angels and colour accuracy.

Woops, my mistake; I've edited the links out.

I haven't had any experience with the different types, but I doubt the viewing angle will be a huge bother to me as I'll be sitting right in front of it at ~ a foot away.
Would you say the colour accuracy difference would justify the difference in price?

I am happy to the pay the difference, but it'll just mean I'll need to get more overtime at work, so I just want to make sure the difference is worth slaving away at a retail store for!

ive just purchased a Samsung P2450H. excellent monitor for the money! (i paid £144) i cant fault it really, lovely and bright, and the colours seem spot on for me. although, my main gripe is, it seems a little less *sharp* than what my 37" toshiba TV does. maybe its because im sitting a little closer to it lol. I can post up some pics maybe later/tomorrow if you want some.

I have been leaning towards the P2450H because of the price; I'm off to University soon so the U2311 may be too luxurious for me, really.
Where did you find it for £144? Cheapest I've found it for is £171. If I can get it for that much then there is no need for a debate and the wallet will be prompt and ruthless.

Lol. No worries, dude.

Now that I'm back to debating, if you have the time those photos would be lovely.

i'll see if i can get a few shots when i get in later (im not doing anything in perticular tonight so it should be okay!)

edit: here they are as promised! not very good though, apologies for the poor quality. i cant see my screen because of the sun lol.

Thanks a lot for the photos. I think it looks great.
But I just went to order it and found that the price has gone up by £30! There's no way I can justify it at that price. I guess I'll just have to wait until it goes down :(

Got mine at the old price (from elsewhere, sorry Overclockers, but times are tough, but I expect I`ll spend what I saved here eventually :D).

However, it appears they tried to deliver it to me today, but knocked my door with a feather and took it back to the depot. That`ll teach me to deal with cowboys !
