Hi all,

I'm up off to Edinburgh this weekend the catch the last of the fringe festival. We got tickets booked for comedians throughout the weekend but would like some recommendations on where to go out on Saturday night as this will be the first time in Edinburgh for all of us!

We've got no particular style of music just normal lively clubs will do for us!

Royal Mile,
Grassmarket
Rose Street

These are good for pubs, food etc. The first 2 are right at the heart of the fringe and Rose Street runs directly behind princes street.

Clubs

Espionage is not bad. It's just off the Royal Mile and on the street that runs down to the grassmarket. There are lots of other clubs along the Cowgate. This runs just of the grassmarket towards "underbelly"
 
As you're going between George IV Bridge and the Grassmarket (up West Bow and Victoria Street) there's a few clubs around that area - the Liquid Rooms and Espionage as mentioned are both there but there's loads, if necessary get in a taxi and ask them for advice and to take you to a club. Really I'd just suggest having a wander about, if you don't like a pub/club then just move on to the next one - you won't have to go far and if you can't find a suitably lively night in Edinburgh during the Festival then I've got no great hopes of you finding one anywhere.
 
Thanks for all the tips guys! I've heard of Liquid Rooms and Espionage so will remember them!

We'll do plenty of wondering in and out of bars (with a few comedians in the middle) so should be a good weekend!
 
if you havent been before... have a nose around the castle. Good views of the city from up there.

Jam house (serious suggestion) is pretty good. If you like sweaty, smelly cramped rock places with cheap booze then check out the Hive or Opium.

For more upmarket like clubs check out George St as mentioned. Opal lounge isn't bad nor is Shanghai.

Haha, I almost defended Opium but just remembered how disgusting it was last weekend. Good music though and not deafeningly loud like some places.
