Do you find a good first name is important to succeed?

Do you think someone named John or Michael would have an advantage in a job interview over someone named Lance or Gage.

What do you think?

If your name is Toblerone should always take along an empty Toblerone chocolate box when attending interviews for office jobs. This would save your potential employer the expense of having to make a name plaque for your desk, and therefore increase your chances of getting the job. :p

If someone came to me with the name Batman Bin Suparman then he'd be hired on the spot :O

TBQH when I heard various names recently such as Dr Pixie from that embarassing bodies show, I found it rather odd, and wondered if Dr Pixie had steered herself into that position. Professionally I am sure she is known by her surname.

Some names put you at a disadvantage
no one could employ Mr Dwayne Pipe as a plumber without a smile.

The 'j' is silent, it's actually "Ben, yo!"

If the 'j' is completely silent then it'd be "Ben o" surely or perhaps "Ben-o" as if his name had been Australianised in the Fosters advert? :p

I don't know about John or Michael being more likely to succeed in a job interview, I suppose it depends on the job - in a solid staid profession then those names might be better. I do however have a theory that certain names almost inevitably force the path of their holders in the future - if you name your child Kristal, Kandi or Destiny then you've given her a push towards being a stripper, if you name your child Ranulph then you've pretty much guaranteed he has to be an explorer and/or slightly upper class (your own background doesn't matter too much here). With this theory in mind I've given some serious consideration to naming my first born Isambard - they'll have to be great or die in the attempt, doubly so if my first born is a girl...
