Which is your favourite?

But VI should. Unfortunately the Playstation Generation are too strong!

But that's part of what makes VII so important; it brought one of the worlds best franchises (at the time) to the masses. I love VI almost as much as i love VII, but VII is what introduced me to Final Fantasy, without it i would have never even played VI, and that's part of what makes it my favourite.

My favourite would be Final Fantasy X. I really liked the battle system in this one where you could replace party member during battle, also loved the story. One thing I did hate though was blitzball ugh.
I thought XIII was brilliant too, but I can understand why some don't like it.

It would have been more interesting if you left VII out, and banned people from talking about it. I'd like to know what's everyone's favourite EXCEPT VII, without juts looking for number two in this poll.

Mines FFIX personally

Because, it was my first one and feels more of a fantasy story to me than any other.

I mean common! Fish and dog people, a huge blue queen, a monkey boy a hot princess and buzz lightyear dressed up as a knight having flying issues as usual as seen in one of the first few cutscenes :D

Wheres FFXI!!?! it is available on the ps2 and xbox :P
I played that for 6 years =)

FFXI doesn't count for the obvious reason that it is a MMO game and most core FF players stayed on the mainstream offline games only.

But yeah, out of the PlayStation 3D polygonal generation, FFIX is the only one that takes it back to the old-school era of the NES/SNES games, hence the reason why it is traditional medieval fantasy based.

FFXII could be a close second if not for the Star Wars-esque nature of the Sci-Fi elements, but then that's just me since it was my favourite PS2 one.

It's funny how FFIX, FFXI, FFXII had no Tetsuya Nomura design elements in them, so these games kept some of the more traditional FF based stuff.

I should also have added that what I find ironic is how a lot of long time Final Fantasy fans complain about Tetsuya Nomura's design trademarks for his characters (J-Rock Bishounen hair styles, belt zippers and such!), and yet it is the games where he is heavily involved with are the most popular. FFIX and FFXII, no matter how highly rated it is for some fans, they still get a lot of flak, and he has nothing to do with them too, which is what I find very funny.

I never liked the Final Fantasy games much. Friends played them at school but I didn't care for them much then. XIII was the first game I really got into and I really liked it so it gets my vote.

I'm still waiting for more info on Final Fantasy versus XIII lol
Not seen any gameplay yet which leads my friend into thinking it's going to be a movie.

Movie? LOL!

There's no gameplay yet apart from ingame cutscenes and magazine screenshots of some of the game's world locales.

The last major news which was a few days ago was that the game may not even come out next year.

Role-playing game Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first shown in 2006 at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles. It's now 2010, and the game is not out.

And don't expect the game to be out in 2011. "We have no release date information to update," Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase told website Gaming Union. "Unfortunately we can't say anything about that. We can't commit ourselves to 2011 either."

In May 2009, Final Fantasy Versus XIII designer Tetsuya Nomura said, "The progress of developing Final Fantasy Versus XIII is going well". At that time, the developers were working on lighting effects for the game.

Later that summer, Kitase told Kotaku that the development time for Versus XIII will be "comparatively faster" than Final Fantasy XIII. If Kitase's estimate held water, that meant a 2011 release was in the cards.

It isn't, apparently!

This summer, it was revealed that the story for Final Fantasy Versus XIII had been finalized. This actually shouldn't come as a surprise as the details of the story aren't the heavy lifting, but rather, the actual game programming.

Keep in mind that the development of Final Fantasy XIII redirected resources from Versus XIII. So while Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the company still had to get Final Fantasy XIII out the door first. That, and video games are exactly made overnight.

The game was absent from last year's Tokyo Game Show, this year's E3 and this month's Gamescom.

Kotaku

We will just have to wait and see what there may be at this year's Tokyo Games Show.
