How many of you are still undecided on careers?

21, no idea really what I want to do*.

Applying for various Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships but I'm under no illusions that I will get on any of them.

*Not strictly true. I don't want to do anything, don't see the point.

28 and no idea! Considering applying to be a Park Ranger though which would be pretty sweet!

I'm 23 on Tuesday and still have no idea what I want to do - starting a PhD in October so hopefully I might have a few ideas in the next three years.

I'm 27, working full time and quite far into my career progression as a consultant. I love the job and I'll probably be doing this for years, as I'm quite good at it.

Part of me still thinks that one day I'll grow up and get a serious career, I think it's kind of happened while I've been waiting. ;)

I'm 21 and I'm a bit scared really. I have no idea what i'd like to do with my life; I have no real interests about careers I'd like to maybe go into.

I feel like time is passing by far too quickly and that I never have time to think about it or research things I might like

I'm 25, been working at my current job for 9 years in November ().

I started working pretty much as soon as i finished school as the prospect of no more classrooms and making money was appealing, the job is crap but it's easy which makes it even harder to get motivated to do something about it.

I don't have and never have had a real idea what i want to do/be but i'm hoping i can think of something soon, even if it means i have to head back to school... don't want to still be where i am for another year let alone another 9 :(

i have no idea but i like computers and art and sometimes engineering.
my chemistry teacher wants me to be a teacher..dont know why..

I can't tell if my outlook on what I wanted to do when I was older was a bit naive or not. When I finished school at 15-16 I knew I wanted to work in IT so I just looked at the highest paid IT jobs and decided I wanted to be a consultant lol. (Business\Systems Analyst consultancy, ERPs, CRMs etc.)
Finished University in May and Business Analyst junior/graduate positions were few and far between, ended up applying for mainly 1st line roles and some SQL/DBA junior positions. I recently got offered a job in technical support for a government funded company which looks good but also managed to get through to the last stage of a graduate position for a systems analyst (FTSE 100 firm as well). I really hope I get the placement tbh as I want to get into IT consultancy asap!

What sort of consultant? Everyone and his dog has the word "consultant" in their job title these days.

:)

I work for a Project Management consultancy, however I do SharePoint, which kind of came about due to Project Server being so tightly integrated with SharePoint, but nowadays accounts for almost half of our business! Mostly involves business process analysis and implementation of various systems to accompany them in SharePoint, usually on-site work so we have to work all over the country. Great fun and never the same thing twice! :) (Pretty damn well paid, too)

i'm 26 and doing something i dont really want to do...but i'm good at it and getting paid well and the hours are good so its hard to think about changing now...

i was 24 when i realised what i wanted to do with my life, it turns out it was the same thing i wanted to do all along, i just didnt have the balls to take a leap and get out of my comfort zone until then, 2 years on and i can easily say its the best life choice i've made.

Lets see, im 23 this year, hate my job after the 2 years ive been there now but have no idea what i want to do!
Id love to see some of the world but most if not all of my wages goes straight to paying rent/car/bills food fuel and the usual.
Ive stopped going out, practically stopped drinking and still skint most of the time so yea i spend my time just working to live.
Id love to know what i want to do, if i find out id hopefully have a crack at it.
Ive contemplated going back and getting my grades and hitting up uni or at least some courses but i really cant afford it! (wouldnt know what to pick any how)
Been working since i was 15, youd think by now id know what i like!

Sounds pretty interesting!

Back on topic, I still don't really know if what I'm doing is what I want to keep on doing - I've never really done the same job for more than a few years at a time. Always within IT/software development though. Currently working as a tech lead, scrum master and data/systems architect for a hedge fund.

:)

21, I took the wrong career path, which made me slightly depressed.

I think I'm on the right one now, but as usual, my college is probably the worst in the world and decided to scrap my course. but I found now the course is going ahead but I have to pay the full course fee rather than a standard fee.

23 and all I know is that I want to do something for myself, just not sure what yet. :o

Been working for HP in sales for the last year and discovered I've got a knack for it, which is good as I avoided public facing jobs in the past.

I don't get how people can know what they want to do for the rest of their working lives by their early twenties, but then I've never really had any idea on what I want to do or had anyone pushing me in one direction or the other.
