Well I have no FPS problems so I could wait but I am so worried about the temps the the smell of hot electrics.
I am limted to a CARD lenth of 11 inch
No place to put extra cooling other then make a hole in the wall to the outside & put a vent & fan in to take the heat out I have thought about it.
Funds are not really a problem I will get £120 each for the 5770 as it is.

Smell of hot electrics? You mean dust? Has this always been a problem? Sure the fans arent blocked?

There are clean of dust took them out Thursday night blasted them with a air hose hardly any dust came out.
Put them back in ran them at 100% load went to 105c

It's that they are so close together theres very little room a few mm apart for the air to move around.

RavenXXX2 you sure they have been stress tested :)

temperatures on a lot of graphics cards these days are insanely high, mine included. unless you set fan speed to 100% or something, when i use the stupid ATI settings mine idles at 80*C, but idles at 40/35*C when i over-ride fan speed and set it to 45% in overdrive, so my conclusion these days is graphics cards just run hot! :D

now got a Gainward GTX295 rev2 at the moment, excellent speed and nvidia quality drivers.

I knew Nvidia had made a decent driver.

Try pointing a desk fan at them. Sounds like you have a some kind of air flow problem.

I have 2 x gt280's in mine, there are 2 120mm side fans pointing straight at them for more cooling Ie on the off the casing.

PS also 2 x 120mm fans At the front off case Both or part off the HD cooling although they act as more air flow.

5770 crossfire handles most things you throw its way comfortably at 1680x1050, so why not take the middles card out & wait to see what the new 6 series cards are like ?

Or are you running 1920x1080 or higher ?

its funny theres more CrossFire users, yet If i'm not mistaken Crossfire was introduced later than SLI & seem by Forum posts There Support For Crossfire is less than OK than Nvidia's?

maybe its just because the cards are cheaper :D

Lets hope for Better Drivers for all Be it Nvidia or ATI

Shame we don't have a third Company to Mix it up & INtel don't count!

I would be amazed if anyone here is still running a pre-Crossfire era SLI setup.

I am running at 2560x1440 I can't take the middle card out & still have crossfire as the link that you use to join the cards is to short.

I have done some more looking into the temps & found that they can get as hot as 120c before you get problems.

So what to do ? I really don't know I have put my 3 card's up for sale last night say may let them run & see what happens, if thay go I will upgrade if not then poss stick it out running at 105c.

With winter on the way the house temps will be dropping anyway.

Happily married to ATI 5970 for about 5 months :p no really, but im happy with this card, and the other one is on the way! my last nVidia dual gpu was GeForce 9800GX2
