No hate please and sorry if this thread is inappropriate.

I played the trail and was a bit disappointed on the limited structures and units you can build =/
Also the amount of time spent on 1 game feels short to me, especially since there is always a rush within minutes of starting.

And really thats it covered lol, them 2 points above are just preventing me from buying.
What are the benifits for the future maybe?
Such as expansions that include more structures and units maybe?

Any other benifits to online play?
Personally I buy a game for it's online play because I know i'de play it again over a non-online game.

Any info and opinions would be helpful on me choosing to spend £30 (Roughly).

Again I appologise if this brings hate to SC2 fans.

Cheers

26 excellent and varied single player missions made it a fun game for me even if I am really bad at the multiplayer. I do not regret the money someone else spent on it on my behalf!

Wish I had someone else buy it for me then I wouldnt have this problem l

If you didn't enjoy the trial then wait for it to come down in price.

RDM if you fancy some coop games to get into the swing of things let me know. Sniffy, 370.

think the real star points of Starcraft II are its great single player campaign, Raynor is developing into an interesting character, much more than the first game. it has a brilliant editing tool that lets you do just about anything thats within the constraints of the game engine, as well as create your own maps for games with friends and what not. ;)

I've also really enjoyed the single player, wont be doing mp as I don't like to lose.

don't worry mate, your not missing much (unless playing with friends), all your missing is being endlessly rushed, different players from all around the world using the EXACT same tactics every single match against you. :(

this is what ive hearrd and this is what i fear.
wheres the fun in that?
just puts me off people starting a game, rushing it and ending within minutes.

No skill

If there's no skill surely you can just win any and every match? The skill involved is in stopping the initial rush and then slowly fighting back.

That's its genius. It's so involving and rewarding because there aren't 200 different types of units on each faction. Those games are over complex and targetted at a different type of RTS fan. Blizz have kept it relatively simple but amazingly deep and complex at the same time. It's just remarkable.

It can take just as much skill mastering a few units as it does to master many. SCII I have noticed tends to have really hard counters to each unit - so unless you diversify you will get ripped to pieces.

Getting an effective rush out also takes skill. Do a half arsed job and you leave yourself open to a reprisal you can't defend against.

To be honest, no matter how simple or complex units/tech trees are in every RTS I have ever played, online play tends to be the same anyway. There is always an initial rush and if it is just 1vs1 the game wont last long even if the rush failed.

I managed to net it for about £20.

I'm pleased I got it, I'm really enjoying it and as I've not had much time recently and been away (it runs really well (and looks good) on my MacBook Pro) I'm really pleased I got it.

I just need to get better at it :)

I still find it hard to part with a game, any game, that's more then about £20, not because I'm a tight ******* but because I just remember when they were cheaper and it feels like you get a lot less game play for your money.

There's a great deal of skill involved in it.

gonna have to disagree there, its not so much skill as it is pace. the best players are the fast players, but they certainly aren't brilliant tactical thinkers, they just aim to rush production the quickest. whoever makes the most basic units first usually wins. ;)

Its basically the lowest common denominator of rts games.. dare i say it an rts for those who don't like rts.

If you played Company of Heroes or Men of War much then playing SC2 will seem somewhat unsatisfying. At least it did for me.

Um. No?

First of all, there is no such thing as 'rushing' in the sense people build it up to be. Your opponent is playing the same game with the same ability to gather resources / expand / build units. They can't do anything you can't do.

Plus, another important aspect of good play is immediately introduced here; scouting. Checking up on what they're doing which is just a case of seeing what is or isn't there, with little experience you can tell what they're going for and make your play to counter. They're going all in? well GG to you if you scouted properly.

There is a huge amount of depth to the game and if genuinely think rushing is lame or the game is about spamming one type of unit until 200 supply and making your first attack 20 minutes in then without getting a serious mindset adjustment you won't ever do well in any RTS and most likely any other genre either.
