JJ ABRAMS SUPER 8 Official movie Thead

Was hoping it had something to do with Cloverfield but just read an article that says the two aren't linked :(.

Will still be great though, whatever it turns out to be!

The first trailer (I believe) is at the start of Iron Man 2. Obviously nothing revealed except some Area 51 stuff and something big trying to bust its way out of a container. Next summer :(

Did a frame by frame as a few trailers for games/films do and found

Wasn't really that hidden, but with JJs crew and viral advertising and all that I'm sure there's loads, trying to piece together the flashing images if there is anything.
After a google, it seems other people are onto this and http://www.scariestthingieversaw.com/

thats odd, i've seen an article that said it was a prequel of sorts.

Edit: No, wait. i've just found a recent article that quotes Abrams saying it has nothing to do with it. Nevermind :p

it will have a limited connection, set in the same world that Cloverfield, Lost and Fringe are.

like how theres tips to lost in fringe, and how in cloverfield the reel had Dharma Initiative all over it.

its JJ Abrams own little sci-fi world where he can do what he likes, it will have no direct link but i wouldnt be at all suprised to find pieces in there linking it somehow into this world.

other than that, its a movie in tribute to Spielbergs earlier movies.

Been reading more and more about this, could be a take on "supposed alien encounter conspiracy with the USAF" from the late 70's (?).
An event people back in the 80s tried to talk about, but anyone talking about that stuff openely = "Magick".

I assume a lot of Abram's work has to do with conspiracy/lore/myth/beliefs/religion etc etc.

Edit: I like his work, I love the mystery and the lead up to something, I like having lots of unanwered question that take time to finally be.... answered!
For me it's better than already knowing the plot because it's done a dozen times before or the writing is so bad you can tell the ending from the first 5mins.

If this is anything like Cloverfield, it will be terrible. Cloverfield was seriously bad, however, the marketing crew employed for that movie, were fantastic - they successfully marketed/convinced a lot of people to watch it.

It really goes to show, you can make a poor film, but as long as you have a good marketing team behind the movie, even a bad film can make a lot of money.

Cloverfield was directed by Matt Reeves, JJ Abrams only produced it. With Super 8, JJ Abrams is both writer and director. So if Star Trek and Mission Impossible 3, which he also directed, is anything to go by, then it should be a pretty good movie. I hope so anyway.

I never noticed any of that. I'm going to have to go back and watch them all again now.

I just mumbled that to myself!... thankfully I've just (today) re-organised my DVD's since moving home, and know exactly where it is!! :)
