This is the 2nd thread this week were an op has ranted about ati drivers, but in the same thread said that they have no issues what so ever with a different set of drivers.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

is it a commonly known issue for xfire users ( unsure about single gpu ) that afterburner and ccc running at the same time can cause very slight stuttering in games and benchmarks ? very noticable and very annoying when you doint know whats causing it.
So ATI's monthly driver release is pointless, is that the consensus? if that's the case and people are willing to stay on older drivers because newer ones either introduce problems or offer no real change to previous sets, then would it not be best for ATI to do as Nvidia do and release a set when it is required.
I never had this issue, it's more if you have the OSD as well as a lot things being monitored with a quick polling rate, reducing the polling rate to 4000 and the number of things you're monitoring alleviates any stuttering in my experience. Then again I have never used xfire, so I'm speaking for single GPU users.
No its for people who are having problems to use newer drivers to fix them & for others to use the new features that they may have.
And again NV has had the same problems with breaking stuff in there drivers as well no matter when its released.
Its simple to understand but that went right over your head.
Where is the last thread in here of Nvidia breaking things in the latest driver release ?
It is so laughable how defensive ATI Zealots are.
That's the thing, with a monthly cycle you're under pressure to get them drivers out to meet the end of month deadline, in contrast nvida are under no pressure to meet monthly deadlines and are free to get a good set out with plenty of testing before release. More is not necessarily better.
The problem is, Nvidia had far more GPUs installed than ATI back then, plus they also had chipset drivers (let's not go there!).Its laughable that your saying that NV has never broken things in there drivers, that's a defence stance right there.

And don't search for ATI driver problems, you'll crash the forum server.
Yes Nvidia have problems, but it pales into insignificance at the moment compared to ATI, even allowing for more ATI users on the forum. And what you have posted applies to ATI atm with them being very popular,
I am talking about recent months and what i see on these forums. I will use the 30th of april as the datum point as that is how far you have gone back with your links

Also take your pick of quite a few of the sub forums that are littered with problems

See the picture, i only went as far back as the 26th of August. We can all drag up problems but as your list shows there seems to be fewer Nvidia ones in general(Ok they did have the major one that wrecked a fews GPU's)
I will reserve judgement on why Roff kept going back to a certain driver release, although i believe it was a performance issue in a certian set not an actual bug ??
Now there maybe a few more people with ATI cards which would lead to problems been highlighted more. Maybe ATI users are not as technical savy as others (Yes i have seen that given as a reason on these very forums as to why ATI drivers may get more problems than others, you know the old reason of user error!), who knows. I do not really care, it is what i have seen on these forums. I have no preference to either company.
Now you i see i personally never had that much trouble with 5850, well none at all if i am honest, it is just what i read on here what i base my view on.

ATI have more issues than NV
NV drivers just work
NV drivers don't have issues
April is not that long ago & If one brand has issues recently & the other has not then lets make fun of it just because we can & to what purpose would that serve.
So what happens when its NVs turn again with a run of bad drivers, you want the ATI users to steam in.
Its nothing but childlessness.
