I assure you he was making them in the 70's and 80's too, man was useless. Enthusiastic yes, accurate very often no.

Difference being Walker made mistakes but clearly knew about the sport and was enthusiastic, usually the mistakes ended up just being quite funny.

Leggard makes mistakes because he has no idea what he's talking about and just ends up looking stupid and out of his depth.

I'd agree he knew lots about the sport, I had lunch with him a few years back and that was obvious the man had passion and lots of knowledge. I too have passion and know the sport but he was simply a crap commentator who often missed the blatantly obvious. If it were once in a blue moon fair enough, it was every race and I know because I have been swearing at my telly since the 70's!
