Woman at the petrol station

Im going to take the human side of this rather that the internet forum one and say if someone was in distress i would help them.

i would have told her that she could get "free" petrol if she begged to the guy behind the counter, told the sob story and left id and plate details.

could she just fill up then drive off? or doesnt it work like that, id probably do that if i was in real distress.

We currently have some bint walking around the town centre carrying a jiffy can claiming she's run out of petrol down the road and has forgotten her purse.

Everytime she comes up to me I just look back at her and say 'funny you would have thought you would have learnt from doing the same thing last week' She quickly walks off when she realises you recognise her.

I think if somebody really was desperate for help for money to pay, they certainly wouldn't have a go at somebody for not giving them money. It's more likely they would beg and say they really needed help.

I've seen similar scams in the past with people knocking on doors and asking for money with ridiculous stories full of holes.

I once got asked by a woman in Newcastle for some money to help her get home to Morpeth, I replied "walk"

id have done the same as the OP, and if i was in the position of the person that asked you, i would just go and see the people at the petrol station as theres things that can be done

Had a variation on this one a few weeks back over here. There's a Knock on the door and get some story about his son being in hospital but he's out of gas, etc, etc. He also sank pretty low with his pitch - "sorry, sir, I'm just a poor black man, I'm sorry" and literally had his "cap in hand"

One of my neighbors is a cop - he told me next time to send them next door and he would be happy to give them a ride to the hospital in his cruiser :D
