slighty off topic , but i've been living in Japan for a year and a half.
i really miss the UK and my family, but I don't won't to go home because i enjoy Japan. it's just a big dilema.

and lol I wouldn't even dream about living in the US.
Apart from the health care insurance rigmorall, my quality of live has vastly improved since moving here. Yes you dont get as many holidays, but with such fantastic beaches and countryside 5 mins from my house its not an issue. Also the people here dont have to work like dogs, like back home in blighty. Here you work to live, not the other way round.
As for the SUV situation, if you've ever experienced a winter in New Hampshire, never mind Canada which is further up a 4x4 car is something you'd be buying.
Fair enough if you live in california, but here, i bought a 3.7L V6 jeep to cope with the winters.
Is additional holiday not something you can negotiate?
How did you end up in Japan may i ask?
Lovely country, My ideal place to go and live.
Money on its own is no good unless your going to set up a business there that will create a minimum number of AMERICAN jobs.
The government have created the EB-5 visa scheme where you can invest £323,000 into a regional centre to obtain a green card.

wft are you talking about? SUV's are popular due to the crappy weather in the winter and not soley becuase people like to waste fuel. Over the last 5 years SUV's have become much more efficient than previously and less popular.
I'd say that Canada is up there for environmental care too. There are numerous incentives from recycling to national parks, the maintenance of greenbelt and natural reserves.
I agree with your about the health care, it is not as good as the UK at all.
As with anything though moving to a different country is not for everyone. For me moving from the UK to Canada has been a very good move with the exception of 2 weeks vacation.![]()
I see 17year old kids in British Columbia, Vancouver and Victoria driving huge SUV's and trucks here. Don't give me that weather crap, do you really think it snows more in Victoria or Vancouver then it snows in Sweden, Norway, Holland, Denmark ,etc ?
Heck, by your logic, everyone in Italy should ditch the sports cars since they must be mad for driving them in the Alpes or in northen Italy.
It's a "bigger is better/cool" culture and you know it.
Why does a family of 4 need 3 or 4 SUVs? Why can't they have 1 SUV/Truck if the weather is that bad (lol, I know in Manitoba/Ontario you'd need it, but in B.C? give me a break), Then why can't they have 2 energy efficient cars + 1 SUV?
No, everyone here and their mom and grandma drives a truck or an SUV and your excuse is that the US has 300+ million people so therefore we can waste as much as we like since we only have 30+ million.
Don't argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
