I just installed one of these on my 480. But I'm pretty sure I've just ****ed it up completely.

The thermal pads are apparently in 1mm size and 1.5mm size. But they were all the same size. There was NO difference in the thickness of any of the thermal pads. So I just installed them in all the relevant places. I'm seriously peed off that they don't precut thermal pads, lazy nobs.

Now it's occurred to me that the mosfets have to be covered with the 1.5mm thermal pads so they can make contact with the waterblock.

I'm sure my card will fry when I power it up, but I am 100% sure that I didn't use any 1.5mm pads. I might have lost them :o and the reason I think this is because EK claim that there are more than enough thermal pads to use on the card, yet I ended up using all the pads, with almost nothing left over.

FFS OcUK, why did you make it sound easy to install a waterblock :(

I think I might kill someone, I can't even be bothered to continue building it at the moment

hehe yeh I had this issue too its a pain.

I just doubled up on the mosfets and vrm, i.e. I just added the ones provided with the ek block onto the ones already on the card.

If you look carefully you when you put the block you should be able to see if it is making proper contact or not.

If they are making contact with the block yes.

If not you may have to get hold of some thermal tape or something.

But looking at the card from here, I can see that some of the mosfets aren't quite touching. I'll order some 0.5mm thermal pad to stick on to the 1mm stuff, or would it be better to remove it altogether and replace it with some 1.5mm pad onto it?

Well either way your gonna have to take the block off so look first.

Naturally it will be better to get hold of some 1.5mm pads. If you need to know where to get them email me in trust, but their not that hard to find using google.

The outside of the box was ripped, probably in transit. like this:
