Ok I dont want any flame wars or fan boys with attitude!

Simple question? which console is going to be better for the new F1 2010 game to be released soon? and please give valid reasons why!

which has the better GFX
which has the best online game play
which has the best control

Iam about to buy a console for this game, either the new Xbox 360 250G
or the slim PS3

And for additional info, i do not need another blue-ray player, so comparisons need to be based on console performance.

Has the new Xbox 360 been upgraded CPU and GFX wise for instance?

Just wait for a side by side from lens of truth or someone. Doubt they'll be much in it as always.

Do you have any friends with either? That's always the best way to choose.

Both consoles have the same CPU and GFX they had when they were first released, in terms of performance.

Controls: I think there are certain steering wheels that work on both consoles so Control is likely to be the same. If you use the joypads then the 360 has better triggers (which I assume will be used for accelerate/brake). I think the PS3 has more wheels that are compatible. So depends what you will use.

Online Game play: The 360 will have a slicker invite and party chat system. But, for me, this one it would depend what your mates play on (360 or PS3).

Graphics: I recall reading all the videos of this game so far seem to be 360 or PC . Also on a lot of multiplatform games the 360 has slightly better graphics. Although on Codemasters produced games there does not seem to be a huge difference.

If you just bought a console for a single game (which is crazy for all sorts of reasons, but isn't part of the question!) then it is likely the 360 will win based on your criteria. Having said that the assumptions are based on past games, no-one knows definitively for this game till reviews come out.

If you care about social gaming then the more important question may be which is the most popular platform amongst your friends...

ps3ud0

What consoles do your friends have, and will they buy the game too?
Are you willing to pay for xbox live over the year?
Which other racing games do you prefer, Forza or Gran Turismo?

In terms of graphics and online, the xbox is generally a little bit better.

I'm getting it for the PC, and probably the PS3 as i don't have a wheel for my xbox.

Best GFX ? Are you talking this game or in general? For this game i dont know the original Dirt was a bit better on the PS3, Dirt 2 was a bit better on the 360. As for graphics MP games are pretty much the same, some are better on the 360 a few better on the PS3, most look around the same anyway. As for exclusive games i can easily say the PS3 has the best looking exclusive games.
Online gaming the 360 wins comunity wise, easier to use friends list, easier to set up games and cross game chat, but it cost around £40 rrp a year for it. The PS3 online is functional rather than flash works fine and is free to use online, their is a pay service that gives you free games that acts more like a rental service.
Control is subjective some prefer the 360 pad some the PS3 some like me just get used to both, generally the 360 is said to better for FPS games. I would say that for driving games if you want to use a wheel than the PS3 is your best bet unless you are willing to spend £250+ for a decent 360 wheel. The MS 360 wheel isnt that great IMO, and for the same money the logitech ones for PS3/PC are far better wheels.
The new 360S has the CPu/GPu on the same chip but has no advantage or increase in power over the older versions, its just quiter has more USB ports and will be able to use Kinnect without an external PSU.
If you like driving gamers than the fact that GT5 is coming out in 2 months time and seems it will be the "Mother of all driving games" with Nascar, WRC, Super GT, Super go Kart racing, and all the normal GT race modes it should give you enough things to do. Not including the 1000+ cars, F1 cars, Top gear test track and track creation/ sharing i dont think ill be needing another driving game for a long while.

You will just get fanboy arguments with a post like this, they will both be good sometimes with them being slightly better on one than the other but minimal, buy the cheapest if you ask me!

I think it tends to be the Xbox that has better graphics in multi platform games out of the two, though it you can honestly tell the difference at 200mph, at, say monza then fair play to you. Get the one most of your friends have.

He is on my list as a Sony fanboy but everything he says is true.

The only thing I would add is that if the OP is only going to be using the pad, then the 360 has much better triggers.

If I was going to buy my first console and I liked driving games, I would buy a PS3.

Whilst it is true that you cant tell until the game is released...we are now a few years into the PS3 lifespan and i dont see the "superior cell technology" guff giving any advantage or being taken advantage of as many said it would be, we just had to wait till developers got to grips with the ps3 dev tools so it was said.

Not intending to start a firestorm..just that in the early days this was the main reason why the 360 was ahead in a lot of games graphically speaking.....as games werent "optimised" for the ps3 ;)

Ok guys thanks for the replys!

As my friends use a mixture of both, its hard to choose, but on a price format the Xbox wins i guess. reliability the PS3 wins.

I wont be buying a steering wheel, and F1 2010 wont be the only game iam playing.

Now the part that the xbox hasn't been upgraded since first release is not what the guy in game told me, he said it had been upgraded and was 10X faster than the original Xbox. Don't worry i didn't believe that line anyway but i did think that maybe they had improved the hardware some since its original release.

so another question needs to be asked, is either console going to be upgraded in the near future? PS4 Xbox 460 ect!

If not then i shall go Xbox 360 me thinks!

They still aren't. It's common knowledge that the vast majority of cross platform games use the 360 as their lead format. When they use the PS3, for example in FFXIV, the PS3 version comes out on top. It's a case of developers not taking the time or it not being worth the time to make the second platform version up to the same standard as the lead.

Think theres some crossed wires here the original xbox 360 launch in 2005 hardware wise is pretty much the same as the 360s sold now, apart from size of the CPu/GPU, built in HDMI, and improved cooling/noise. Now the bloke in game must have been talking about the original xbox launched 2002 in the UK as the 360 is certainly many times more powerful than the xbox launch in 02.
Both will be upgraded in future but not for 2-3 years anyway at least, prob see a new Wii before the other 2 get updated. Which ever you decide you will enjoy im pretty sure.

In my opinion, if your literally buying the console just for this game, get the 360 because its cheaper? If your not going to use the features of the ps3 which make it more expensive then theres no point paying extra?

If your going to be using a wheel, then I'd say PS3 (has the better wheel support). Sticking to a pad, then I'd say 360.

Last 2 or so Codemasters games have looked all but identical on ps3 / 360, but slightly better performance on 360.

If you are not using a wheel you need the xbox 360.
Trying to play GT5 prologue with that ps3 controller just put me off the game to be quite honest.
I cant even get excited for the upcoming GT5, its just a horrible controller and i'm surprised they have not modified it.
