Hey guys, I'm gonna buy a Titan Nero tommorow, And i was wondering if the HD 4850 512mb card it comes with is bad? It'll be running with a Athlon x2 245 (Which i know is not great.)

So with that in mind, How many Frames Per Second do you think i would get on Medium settings on a game such as Call Of Duty 4?

Thats the system. Thanks! If you don't know roughly the FPS i might get on CoD4, Do you know if it's a Good, Bad, Or alright card?

Thanks guys <3

think the card will murder COD4, 4850s are effectively HD4870s with lower clock speeds, etc. or at least I think im remembering that right. so COD4, MW2, etc. shouldn't be much of a problem. think they get around 35FPS in crysis which is hugely more demanding than COD4, so if i had to guess i would say around 100FPS with everything set to maximum, more if you overclocked to HD4870 speeds. :)

Depends on your monitor res

Thats the monitor i'll be getting, but i doubt i'll be playing on the Max res.

Google Hd4850 cod4 and you will get benchmarks
WHat res do you game at?

Cant link some reviews due to adverts.

I haven't gamed much on PC, So i'm not sure what res i'll be using.

When i played Flyff, i was fullscreen 800x600 haha, this laptop sucks :P

I'm totaly new to PC gaming! =D

i would imagine it would still handle COD4 fine at the maximum resolution of that monitor maxed out, COD isn't exactly a demanding game to be honest.

Wouldn't the CPU limit the Graphics Cards capabilities a little? I've heard this CPU is pretty bad for gaming lol.

With LCD monitors you REALLY want to run everything at native resolution, or it looks pants.

That said, for COD4 @1920x1080, a 4850 will give you very playable framerates.

I know this is probably a noob question, but what Framerates are playable for a Shooter? Whats the lowest Playable Frames Per Second? Just so these benchmarks will make more sense to me! haha

Thanks a lot guys, Really appreciate this!

This is a personal thing tbh, and also varies between games.

In my experience, I generally find that below 30 fps a shooter is basically unplayable and at 60 it is silky smooth. Anything over 40 should be A-OK.

Alright, thanks for that! =D

One more quick quest, how much of a difference does a Processor have to Framerates?

Is it about a 20+ Frame per second difference between my processor, and a Phenom x4? Or is it more? Hopefully my processor isn't too much of a fail haha.

My son has a 512mb 4850 and he plays plenty of games including cod4 and MW2 at 1080p no problem. infact i keep asking him if he wants to upgrade the card but he says no as it plays every thing perfectly well so theres no need.
his other specs are 4gb ram and a E8400 @ 3.6ghz

It really depends on the game. Some are CPU-heavy or heavily multithreaded (or both) so in these games your CPU will limit your performance. Meanwhile, other games work great on a dual core and are not very CPU heavy - so the CPU will basically have no impact on performance (so long as it is reasonably new and you have a half decent GPU).

Some example of games that do need the extra CPU grunt are Battlefield Bad Company 2, GTA 4 and ARMA2. These games will work with your system, but your CPU will limit their performance and it may bring performance down to an unplayable level.

Thanks, But i'm guessing lowering the settings and resolution would help make those games a little more playable?

Yes, those free games you mentioned should be fine. As for MMORPGs, it really depends on the game, but most will be fine as they are made so a loads of people can play them and top-end hardware cannot be expected. However, there are some like Conan which will be very taxing on you hardware and won't play too well.

Alright, Thanks for the help =D

Really Really appreciated! xxx
