Catalyst 10.8 is scheduled for 25th or 26th August

I'm still stuck with 10.4a cause when i tried to install 10.8 after reboot i was getting BSOD the same thing happened with 10.8beta. Kinda getting sick about it, don't want to spend all evening trying to get them working but i'd like to try new CF profiles, maybe it would make BC2 to work better, even with 10.4a i'm getting good fps and there would be no need for new drivers but i WANT them :) will give a try once more my luck with 10.8, hopefully i will manage to make them work.

Everything seems ok with these, although, I did have a random SupCom2 crash last night which has never happened before. And also, CCC seems to be quite slow. After applying a setting (i.e. Upping the fan speed manually for when I game) I'll get the smaller progress dialog box saying "applying setting". Before, it used to be instant.

Use MSI Afterburner, much nicer fan control.

Think I've resolved it.

Ran an uninstall and removed the various leftovers from the PC again (inc. Registry), but then ran Driver Sweeper in Safe-Mode. That seemed to pick up a lot more leftover files. Re-installed just now, and CCC is back to being superslick and quick. (I noticed I had two errors in my Event Log to do with "atikmdag" which lives in the System32 folder).

hmmm

Getting BSODs on boot after installing these, guess I'll stick with the 10.4a :(

the BSOD is citing atikmdag.sys as the problem

I've finally caved in on GTX480.

I've had a 5870 since release and although it's a fine card piece of hardware, the drivers month after month just go from one issue to the next with no sign of any overall improvement.

Cant say ive had any problems with the drivers myself. What are you expecting from driver updates?

We should have '5870s giveaways' thread.

I'm so ****ed off right now because every second/third resume from the sleep state, I have to reboot my whole system entirely with it not being able to get into Windows for more than a minute. **** yeah, first ATI drivers causing me issues. On the other hand they gave me some performance boost in benchmarks and I'd hate to get rid of them.

i suppose people are going to get issues with their hardware, and more importantly the way software is setup (os/drivers [not just limited to gfx drivers], windows updates, services fiddled with etc).

in contrast, i haven't had a single problem with drivers, and i've owned my combo since november time.

only problem i've encountered was crossfirex + eyefinity, but it wasn't a 'massive' issue since games ran fine on just the 5970. now it's all working peachy since around the 10.4's...

by the sounds of it im gonna stick with 10.6, maybe try 10.4a,

not switching to nvidia ever again lol

When with ati i never had problems with the cats same goes for Nv drivers i must just be a lucky P*** :D

Most people don't have problems. I could never understand those that don't but won't try newer driver releases because they're scared of having problems. Like a minute-long return to the previous drivers is a pain in the ass

ok i didnt fix my mass effect 2 problem after all. still get frame rate spikes. maybe its not the card after all but everything else works fine. so close to selling my 5870 and going nvidia out of sheer fustration

i suppose for a lot of people driver updates wont give a big enough boost to gaming performance most of the time,

all but crysis play fine for me on 10.6 so no need to mess with them really
