now you look back at it, do you regret spending the cash you did on your motors?
i bought my first car in january 1999, a mk2 golf and must've spent £3k+ on it in the 6 yeas i owned it. in august 2005 i bought a mk4 golf and must've spent £4k+ on it.
i wouldn't say i regret it as i got both cars looking how i wanted and i had not long gone 20 in january 1999, couldn't afford a house so spending my money on my car was what i liked to do. the last thing i bought for my mk4 golf (which i don't own anymore) was £1500 worth of alloys and tyres in 2007. i look back now and think maybe i'd have been better off keeping the cars standard (as i intend to with my current car) and saving the money for a rainy day instead.

Yes, No, maybeeeeee

Too much on car audio over the early years and would love to find that cash in an isa or savings right now. The only modding I have done in the last few years though has been air freshners and occasionally some super unleaded.

Yes and no. When I look back I spent silly money (especially on the scoob, I sank around £15k into it all said and told :( ) and would love to have that money now to spend on more sensible things. But hey, it's 'only money' and I enjoyed the car at the time. The only one I really regret buying and spending money on was my second 'teg. It was a nightmare from the day I bought it. That's no reflection on the Integra Type-R as a car, but that particular one was nothing but trouble. I should have kept the Integra SiR I had before it.

MY second car was an escort rs turbo in grey. Had it on my 18th birthday, £3600 for TPFT insurance and £3200 for the H reg beauty!

I spent around 20k (over 2 years) on it and then smahsed it into a curb.

I was a total idiot :(

Looking back at it I spent a ridiculous amount of money on my mk1 Golf GTI restoring it about 20 years ago ( don't have it anymore, and yes, I do regret selling it)....probably foolish but do I regret it...not at all, it was super fast and a real head turner too and not because it had some flashy bodykit and wheels but because it was completely standard to look at apart from the Janspeed exhaust :D

I was at university when I modded my Astra so I was on a budget. I waited for the bits I wanted to come up at the right price and went from there so I probably only spent a couple of £k truth be told. I sold the car just over a year ago and miss it loads.

I'd do it all over again because I knew it wasn't an investment. Cars never are. Provided you realise that but want to do it anyway then I don't see why you would regret it.

No - but I haven't gone overboard really.

Fiesta MK6; I put some 17's and some -45mm SPAX springs on. Then an Alpine headunit and a SPLX sub & amp.

Leon; put the same Alpine headunit in, uprated the brakes (which needed replacing anyway) uprated the exhaust (no excuse for that one :P but I love it) I also bought a silly-priced stealthbox which is worth its weight in gold imo, and then an alpine sub and amp combination.

It's also got an expensive sticker on the boot which required going to Germany for ;)

I always have loads of ideas about modding and want loads of bits when I first get a car.. Then I just never do it. Most I've ever done is add a set of alloys (2nd hand)

So never really spent real money on modding.

I don't regret anything that I do car wise.

At the end of the day, it's a hobby and is cheaper than a coke habit.

Nope, it was fun researching and fitting them and what I got out of them exceeded the cost.

Which was the whole point.

Nope, most stuff I buy either is bought at the right price to not lose much or even to hold it's value - some have even increased due to rarity.

spent about 5k on mods and would get most of that back without too much difficulty.

In the two years I owned the Punto all I did was replace the HU so I could connect my Ipod and get a new set of steelies as the others were in pieces from my parents driving it.

In the two years I've owned the Bravo so far I've spent £380 on an induction kit and remap which was well worth it. Something I'll certainly be looking to do in the future. I also spent £30 having a new exhaust fitted which again was well worth it - doubt I would have done it if I'd have had to pay £400~ for the exhaust though.

I'm all about £/bhp really, I'd never remap an N/A.

I've never, ever purchased any mods for any of my cars, even the tax holders are the freebies that either came with the car or free with insurance renewal. Never seen the point personally, for me the only exception would be the stereo but again I've always been happy with the standard fit.

I've spent around £1700 modifying my scoob so far, I'm planning to spend another £2500 - £3000 over the next 12 months then hopefully that should be it. I think it's worth it as my car is already significantly improved and with the extra cash spent it should be much faster than it is now!

Only spent a couple hundred quid on my old '67 Beetle:
