FAO car modders

thatll be a little monster then. not tempted to sell up and maybe aim for a 2.5 focus ST?

its a lardy car the focus ST. Ill probably do the standard OCUK forum thing and move to a Mondy ST220 or a 3 Series :p

lol whats the point in selling up if u just spent on all that?! ah but i see he is already selling the bits off...

the labour plus depreciation:/ you might as well not bother!

not selling yet, the Stage3 kit hasnt even been finished, and the custom inlet maybe sold seperately so i wont need to sell off my parts.

all those parts were second hand except the Manifold and Flexi

speaking of lard, whilst out on one of my chavvy nights out, basically an ST with breathing mods was only quicker than my old golf once we were deep into 3rd (his pulled away further thought without the TC on..)

so the lard as a fair bit to do with it as in a straight line id recon on your fester getting away more convincingly.

out of curiosity, do you know the 1/4 mile times for a fester in your current state of tune or the stage 3 level?

My mods so far consists of:

Code:Red Level 2 Remap
Magnex Cat Back
Magnex 200cell Race Cat

On the list:

Downpipe
CAIS
Eibachs
Different Alloys
Polybushes
ARB's
Intercooler
If the clutch goes, probabley an RS or paddle clutch and a Quaife LSD
Possibly some underbonnet stuff if I could justify it

Sometimes, the biggest annoyance is knowing that I've wasted money on stupid things, like I've lost count the number of sun strips I've bought and ripped off a month later, etc.

Apart from stuff like that I think I've spent my money wisely on suspension, brakes, engine mods.. Best so far has to of been the supercharger for the ST, such a performance increase!

Any more details of this? :)

Got a Fiesta ST myself with a few mods (Bilsteins, Whiteline rear ARB, Mountune CAIS and cat back exhaust) but in the next few months I may well have enough cash to go 'a bit further'. There are other cars that appeal but the Fiesta with the suspension mods is great fun, and with a supercharger will be silly quick....

Search for jamsport st150 superchargers they've done over 160 kits now, stage 2.5 sc will make about 280bhp depending on other mods :)

I'm on FiestaSTOC and have read a fair bit but James_M's supercharged car is a new one to me (unless he's on there under a different name) :)

I'm torn between Mountune Stage 3 (the 'sensible' option), DRMs throttle bodies (I'm local to Kidderminster and fancy the drivability and sound of them) and the SC....the latter would be very fast indeed but I have heard a few horror stories about reliability/drivability, although opinions do seem to vary quite a bit!

How much power do they put out after supercharging? Also, how common a job is it?

I had a play with one the other day I can only imagine had had something done as it wasn't easy to shake even as the numbers got higher, where as the stock fiesta sts ive played with in the past have been fairly poor

Power varies as there are a few stages, Stage 1, 2 and 2.5 but they also have different charger sizes as well as the new kit comes with a larger charger than the earlier kits for example.

With this the power ranges from car to car, I'm running 267bhp without cams yet someone with near enough the same setup is running 300bhp so it can vary.

There are quite a few running the chargers now so watch out ;)

Will, I'm Jam0r on STOC :)

I've had no issues with mine apart from an injector wire coming loose which my local Ford garage sorted for me as I live in Birmingham and couldn't drive to JamSport with the car miss firing (I will point out JamSport we're very helpful on the phone at the time)

Mountune is the sensible route, I wouldn't go with the throttle bodies personally. The reason I say that is because the charger drives like throttle bodies anyway, you still need to rev the engine to get the power from it although not as much obviously. The extra torque is nice which you wouldn't get with the throttle bodies either.

I don't think there has been any major problems with charged cars, i've personally not heard any but I presume if you let it warm up as usual and don't constantly hit the limiter you'll be fine. I don't drive mine that hard and it still surprises me when I put my foot down when I join a motorway.

Have you ever been in one? Your fairly local to me, i've added you to MSN

The sound is enough of a reason to get the charger ;)

ive yet to find the horror stories, and have been searching. Cant be as bad as GAZ's 2.3 turbo ST really? :D

I do find it weird that so many people fit SC's then get rid of the car. Id love to supercharge mine, but i would need a test drive first really. Id be worried it "ruined" my car. Like would cruising down the motorway at 3500 be guzzling fuel or would i still manage 33-36mpg? Sure the SC is great when you want the power but what about just driving to the shops etc. Shame there isnt a "off" switch really, or am i just being stupid?

Had £10k of receipts for parts only during my Cosworth ownership, comes with the territory, no regrets thugh, loved that car.
The M3 has had a few minor mods - brakes suspension etc, but not too much money, thats one of it's key good points not too much affordable modability.

To work and back I get low 30's as with the distance I travel to work, the car barely warms up. On a motorway run I can see 37-39 mpg and that's at 70 so it's not as bad as you think. When you think that the power is similar to a Focus ST and they get crazy mpg I'm quite happy considering!!

I do find it odd people sell up when they get the car charged although I would assume its mostly due to circumstances and not the car. I'd like a new map if i'm totally honest as mine isn't as smooth as i'd like but that's down to my ECU being a pain but i've got a few ideas to sort that out.

Yes and no, I have made some mistakes such as nearly £500 on an exhaust manifold which was mental but when its well thought out, cost effective and it makes an improvement over standard then its well worth it and its a lot of fun, researching, buying, fitting and of course finding out the effects of what it does to the car

how did you find jamsports workmanship?

No. I've spent circa 2k in a little over 2 years and it's a better car because of it. I could have purchased the Brabus version which has the majority of what i've done as standard but in all honesty the car I have was at the right price and had 4k on the clock, for 2k more i'd not have got a Brabus let alone a decent one.

In the two years I owned the Punto all I did was replace the HU so I could connect my Ipod and get a new set of steelies as the others were in pieces from my parents driving it.

In the two years I've owned the Bravo so far I've spent £380 on an induction kit and remap which was well worth it. Something I'll certainly be looking to do in the future. I also spent £30 having a new exhaust fitted which again was well worth it - doubt I would have done it if I'd have had to pay £400~ for the exhaust though.

I'm all about £/bhp really, I'd never remap an N/A.

What is an N/A?
