I perhaps worry more than I should about the future. Fear the terminal decline of UK, Europe and US. Demographic predictions of world populations are frankly scary - no water, no food, no oil and pensions messed up due to ageing population in UK and lots of other 1st world countries.

There must be an upside? All the scary stuffy is reality by 2030-2040.

Roughly the same thing was said in 1970.

They also said that by 2010 we would have no need for oil (due to free unlimited renewable energy) - no need for pensions (as robots would be doing everything for us) and food/water could be made in "elemental creators" in our kitchens or be supplied in one single pill twice a day - just like Star Trek.

Unfortunately none of that was true - and in my mind we have advanced (and probably will continue to advance scientifically) about 5% as far as we did from 1890 to 1930 - or from 1930 to 1970. The last 30-40 years have been utterly pathetic where science is concerned - in the grand scheme of things.

in 1970 they said all this would be reality by 1990, in 1980 it was 2000 in 1990 it was to be 2020 and now it's going to be 2040.

Chill out, enjoy life and don't worry about the terminal decline, because by the time 2040 comes along it will be 2090 when it happens.

And if it does happen then no food and no water will decrease the population rather rapidly to a more condusive number and waayhaay off we go again

the choice of ugly porn star in your sig makes me not worry at all about what you are saying.

Well I have no water and no electricity in my apartment at the moment, so I'm part way there!

(something about water pump shorting out taking down building electrics and water to non-ground level floors)

You have what is called 'a localised apocalyptic incident'

My current facebook status:
They said I was mad for hoarding Armageddon supplies… well who's laughing now!!?!?

I have 10L water, camping stove + cylinders, tinned food and long life milk just for such an eventuality. Only thing missing is the weaponry. Oh and the Zombies.

All the zombies are in the 'I hate foreigners thread' so you should be ok until about 4am.

No offence to your doom saying friends but you live in a well armed nuclear state, if push comes to shove it ain't going to be us starving.

I hear Zimbabwe the breadbasket of Africa could do with "liberating" if you catch my drift ;)
