*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

It's actually listed on their site as the Top edition and the store sticker on the box says Top too, but the MSI sticker denoting model designation does not say Top, just DirectCU!

Interesting. By the price, it's not too difficult to work out the e/retailer. And I've bought from them a few times and never had a problem. I'm sure it's some sort of mistake. So up to you really what you want to do (or not). If it was me, I would still want to point it out to them.

As to the price, £186 is cheap for the TOP version, the only few places I can find selling it, are charging nearer £200.

Enjoy... whatever you decide to do.

I've posted it on their forum so hopefully one of the admins sees it and raises it with the marketing people who put these on the site - I'll probably call up too tomorrow but I think I will keep the card.

It's a bit of a faff undoing everything and putting the 260 back in plus the extra drive and they'd most likely offer a full refund anyway because it doesn't look like they sell the actual Top version anyway.

I'm quite happy with this card, it has a nice cooler, is quiet, does not get hot and appears to overclock very well to boot!

You can always get a voucher or any other form of compensation. It's your money we're talking about after all.

Hmm, my Gigabyte OC GTX 460 has been running perfect at stock. Will I notice any noticeable/better performance if I overclocked it to like 800/1600 from 715/1430?

I noticed the minimum FPS in BC2 rise a few frames so yes it's worth it!

I can play at 1920x1200 8x or 16xCSAA for example and it's perfectly smooth! (above 40fps).

Have just spoken to customer services and the lady I spoke to is going to speak to their purchasing department to see what can be done.

Edit*

The lady phoned me back, said their purchasing dept just found out about the wrongly advertised card and all they can offer me is a full refund so that I can purchase an alternative card because they cannot get hold of the Top version.

What do you guys reckon I should do? I'd like the Top version if it's only a small amount more or a cheaper card that clocks just as well I suppose!

Edit2*

Just seen OcUK's Palit: Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic Platinum 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [NE5X460HF1102
For £174.99 so will buy that and refund the Not So Top Asus card, faster card for £12 less monies = for the win? :)

I know I said It's up to £15 difference before for convenient but right now I feel like I've been inconvenienced after the pretty bland reply from the purchasing team!

The Palit from OcUK will be here tomorrow so I will have virtually no downtime :)

If you think that's jailbait, I would be very worried! :p

Also, what's best to use, MSI Afterburner?

Do I have keep it loading up at start-up for it to clock my card?

MSI Afterburner works great, autoloads too just enable it in settings :)

kelticdaz did you sort your 1080/60 fps custom resolution?

Heh, had a quick look, couldn't see how to do it...looked at custom rez's but I'm already at 1920 rez with 60 hz.

Had a go on COH and yeh, it's still locked at 50fps max with vsync enabled.

Yeah you have to create a new custom resolution.

Set it to 1920x1080 at 60hz Progressive.

I have the Palit and have just RMA,d it.. It was a mental clocker but was so noisy it was unreal...Mine was not the sonic Platinum though, the platinum has a better heatsink but i think it uses the same fan still.

Mine went back too. Just too loud (with the shipped fan profile) and whiney. Even when I gave it a sensible fan profile you could still hear the whine over all of my CPU and case fans.

It was an excellent performer though, despite being the non platinum version.

Ironically the new Gigabyte GTX 460 OC version I bought to replace it doesn't seem to be as good an overclocker, though it's effectively silent.

I'm not convinced tbh. You know where people like you belong! :p

Afterburner works a treat. You can either apply the overclock so it overrides drivers at start up or run it in the background.

Sonic Platinum is damn stupid purchase. Get the Gigabyte one with dual fan cooler.

Ah that worked, thanks. Didn't realise you had to make a new 1080P at 60Hz, as the native one was running at 60Hz already.

i did wrote you a step by step after i got in drunk, its literally a guide that even a drunk could follow!!!

Didn't see it, if it's in this thread, I missed it, thanks anyway!

EDIT

Just saw it. All my other games run fine at 60Hz with the native rez, just COH that needs the custom rez with progressive checked.
