Hey, i am possibly buying a car this weekend, and just wanted to make sure this seems okay for the price etc, any advice would be great thanks

Ford Focus (Sport) 1.6
Automatic
14k miles
2007 plate (07)
full ford service history
one owner

i have negotiated a price of £6,250 for the car

Just want to know if this is a good deal etc

Thanks

Because its a tiny engine and an autobox - never a good combination - and the Ford autobox is not exactly winning awards for longevity. Stick with a manual.

Someone at work has one.

Comically slow, unrefined thrashy transmission and slightly poor fuel economy given a 1.6 engine (On the run we did he got 32MPG, 18MPG around town on a relatively long city commute)

It's not bad if you MUST have an automatic hatchback but I wouldn't buy one unless forced.

Ford autoboxes don't have the best reputation.

On something like a focus there are more than enough of them out there to mean that you will find a car that is 100% right for you easily. Unless for some reason you need an auto this is not really the car for you.

If you do need an auto you probably don't want a focus!

mate from work bought one, same spec. The fuel economies not good, it's unnecessarily slow and the autobox is on the way out. The manual's are much better

oh its all gone horrible, i actually wanted an automatic =/. is the automatic in a focus seriously this bad?

Anything with a small engine and auto box is going to be a none to great experience.

Go a size up and get a 2 litre auto in a bigger body a Passat or a Mondeo maybe.

Slightly poor economy? My 2.5T Focus gets better mileage than that, lol.

I had a Focus Auto on holiday last year and the autobox was absolutly dire. Fuel economy was shocking as it only had a 4 speed so was forever in the wrong gear. From 4th I even had it change down to first when trying to get it to move a bit. I don't think the sport actually means anything engine/suspension wise, its more of a bodykit version (I may be wrong however)

The auto boxes are nowhere near as bad as this lot make out. For the car that it is it's fine.
Tbh you will rarely get any sensible post from people on here as they hate autos in smaller cars.
