England v Pakistan Test Series ** Spoilers**

The PCB got rid of some players for corruption after the Australia tour didn't it? Or was it just for in-fighting? I think the ICC will have to give out lifetime bans, if the allegations are found to be true, if just to make a statement that the ICC wants cricket to be clean and free of corruption. Get involved in bribery and match fixing and you'll never play professional cricket again. A fair enough warning I think.

So at the moment Pakistan can't play matches at home, their team is low on confidence and possibly missing home due to the floods and now they've got corruption allegations hanging over them. Can it sink any lower?

Players were allegedly dropped / banned for infighting in that series.

However, I am still somewhat suspicious about the first game when Pakistan had reached a winning position needing only 20 or so runs to win and 7 wickets left, and then managed to lose it the next morning. If things were so bad in the dressing room how had they even got the upper hand.

He pretty much dropped himself to be honest with that Tweet. Anyone see it?

Thanks - it was deleted before I saw it!

Yeah there is that game which Pakistan should have easily won. I'd like to know how any team in Test cricket can lose a game needing only 20 to win and with 7 wickets in hand. Wouldn't be good if bribery/corruption were found to have taken place in that Test/series now.

You can't quite believe he was Strauss' predecessor as captain of England can you? :D

I knew he should never have been made captain.

I mean, he's not even English! Damn foreigners, coming into this country and stealing jobs! I mean, Ravi Bopara could have had a place and all, if Pietersen hadn't immigrated in the first place :p

I was the same. For some reason the ECB decided to follow up the really unsuccessfull "Let's make our star player, Freddie Flintoff, captain" test with the "Let's make our star play, Kevin Pietersen, captain". Was never going to work. And weirdly Strauss had already captained England in several Tests and done well, improving his average with the stress of captain on his mind and scoring a ton on his debut as captain so why did the ECB not give Strauss the job earlier? Instead we had a farcical ending to KP's short time as captain.

Haha. :p

Exactly. As soon as Vaughn stepped down, I genuinely thought Strauss would become captain. I was very bemused when they said it was Pietersen.

Cook will be the next captain, mark my words. ;)

To be fair. His summer hasn't been that prolific / up to his higher than anybody else on the team's standard. I'd have allowed him a rest as it's clear he hasn't form after the injury he suffered.

Also to be fair had I been treated like KP I'd have walked from the side a LONG time ago.

We're doomed, doomed I tell ya. :D

Unfortunate that KP himself doesn't see that, or that the ECB/selectors/coach/Strauss didn't explain it very well.

By the England fans?

Must be really hard being paid to do something you love, and being adored by the public :(

Also, what are opinions on the one-dayers being played? Personally I think they should go ahead without the (pretty obviously guilty) players under investigation.

I think that they should go ahead too. But I think that until the suspects are proven guilty, they should be allowed to play

Right. I'd completely forgotten about all the abuse and bullying he'd received when he first came into the side. Or the crap he got when England won the Ashes in 2005, not only from fans (the tip of the iceberg being 'but he's not English' and other garbage he got from his own team mates). Adored? My arse.

That sounds like bullying again tbh, or more likely a bit of hanky panky within the team.

I don't buy the arrogance thing either, I mean if he was, then what exactly was Flintoff? ;)

A drunk :o

To be honest, I don't intricately know the ins and outs of English cricket. I know as much as the average England fan.

But if anyone wants to hit me up with a chat about Indian cricket, I'm here :D
