Supermarkets and kids at night

So we have come to the conclusion dog owners and parents do not have the right to go to the shop past a specific time.

Not really. However:

I have to agree that good parenting involves putting your kids to bed at a reasonable time. Better than leaving them home alone but seems too common to be just that.

Happy to let adults do what they like, but when you have kids you aren't just responsible for yourself any more.

It might be because of holidays but I have seen kids in Tesco/Asda as late as 12 on a weekday when they got school next day. I used to stay up late to maybe 11-11:30 some weekends when I was younger but only if it was a special occasion.

I do think that kids need some consistency and getting them to bed at a reasonable time is one of those things.

There's no point in supermarkets up here being open 24 hours, you can't buy booze after 10pm so what's the point really? :D

I don't see as it is really anyones business but the Parent's or Dog-Owners respectively.

Taking your children to the supermarket at 10pm is not indicative of bad parenting, it is indicative ofcthe families need to feed themselves, you have no idea of their motivation or reasons behind their shopping trip.

As for the dogs, is walking your dog and dropping by the local supermarket only permissable in the hours of daylight now?

What kind of Gamer buys games from a supermarket anyway...

Looked 4+ so going shopping at that time of night on a Tuesday is ok? No wonder society is so ****** up.

OMG WHAT DID PEOPLE DO WHEN SUPERMARKETS CLOSED AT 5 or 8 PM

Young ones of that age should be tucked up in bed.

They managed to look after their kids and still get their shopping done by the evening.

What if they had just returned from holiday and were picking essentials on the way home...or any number of other reasonable explanations.

Most normal people would try to come back from a holiday with very young children at a reasonable hour so they could get them to sleep normally. Some of the people you see with kids late night shopping just don’t have a clue.

Agreed some do not, but given that people generally do not have a choice when it comes to flights or if they were delayed or any number of other circumstances to judge people directly as the OP has done is a little presumptuous.

And whats with his problem with the dogs?

I think to be fair, it's the school holidays and if you go in a supermarket during the day right now, you've not just got the parent shopping, but you've got all the kids with them too. Thus you end up with a very crowded supermarket, full of kids messing around.

Perhaps the parents are shopping later to avoid this.
As others have also pointed out, there could be any number of other reasons why they might be.

While I agree there are certainly some bad parents out there and taking young kids out shopping at 10pm isn't ideal, it happens and there isn't a hell of a lot you can do about it other than set a better example as a parent yourself.

Yup, nobody has mentioned wtf are they doing all day on a school holiday to go shopping at night.

Poppy ****, they have 8 weeks to go on holiday and decide to go shopping the day after the bank holiday, 8 weeks to get ready for school, my niece was ready for school 3 weeks ago and she is 5

Yup, at Tesco I could her this shouting coming out and look and it was 2 small kids and some big fat woman shouting at them, it was pitch black and chilly.

My son has been ready for school since the weekend he finished the last one, but that has little to do with whether they had just arrived back in the country from a flight, maybe the parents are limited as to their holiday entitlement or any number of other reasons.

You are making sweeping generalisations based on poppycock.

What's your problem with the dogs, should they be ready for school tommorrow also...:rolleyes:

Why parents do not shop on-line I don't know, you can even have groceries delivered on the weekend. Some people are gluttons for punishment I think.

Did you also miss the bit just above where I pointed out that it's really busy shopping during the day at the moment, especially given that it's just been a bank holiday, as it means everyone who has to do their Monday shopping is now colliding with Tuesday.

If you have got kids going back to school soon, you've also got parents having to rush out to get stationary and school clothing too.

Yes, most supermarkets were open yesterday, but most people won't have gone food shopping on a day off.

I wanted a game and some beer and was coming home from work so thought, LETS DO THIS

Probably the same as you then. You can't expect certain times of a business to be exclusive to you. I find it worse in the daytime. Old people who go to the supermarket for a chat. I get behind them at the checkout and they look at me in horror as if to say "this is my shopping day, I'm here for a chat with with checkout person. I won't be finished here for a while" Er no. Move out of the way.

It's one of those slightly pointless things in life. Open a 24 hour supermarket and loads of people decide to go at an unconventional hour because...... no one else will :o
