Is this a new type of spider or has it just come to Stoke on Trent?
I or my wife can't ever remember cleaning webs off our wing mirrors until this year and all four cars on our drive have got webs on them.

Big pictures so you can see them.

You're not the only one. Get them all the time. I clean them off, and then a day later it's back.

I get them on the mirrors, door handles and boot. You wash them off and they're back. They seem to like my suicidal driving so I just leave them there.

It's because the spiders are fetishists who love to watch what they eat (LOLOLOL).

Why would you remove the web? It'll blow off as soon as you hit the motorway anyway.

Because everyone goes on the motorway first thing every morning!

It's a heated mirror, insects/spiders could be drawn toward it plus it's the only part of a car that sticks out and provides a nice and suitable support to spin a web.

My issue is that my face walks into a web line each mornings I park on the driveway and pass the side of the house so a spider manages to spin a web from my boot lip and the side of the house which I manage to catch on my face :S

I've just noticed a web on the mirror of my new car - cannot get rid!! Hardy little things. I don't really mind to be honest, but it's distracting watching the web blowing around in the wind when I'm driving.

My webs have remained after a sustained bashing on dual carriageways, so don't write-off the mirror spiders so easily.

He has managed to withstand my water/wind and fire (heated mirrors) onslaught so far. Hardy buggers!

Infact I think I will have to give him a name, as he appears here to stay.

I've had a spider in my wing mirror for ages. He survives a weekly jet washing so I figure I'll let him stay if he wants to be there so much.

At least by destroying his web every day I'm giving him something to do in the evening.

You would think that someone as wise and as knowledgeable as yourself would have seen spiders in wing mirrors before?

We have named the one in my GF's car, Derek has been with us a couple of months now, fly's that are stupid enough to enter the car get thrown at Derek's web.

We like to think he appreciates us and the home we have given him.

These are a nightmare, no matter how many times you wash them out they're back the next day. They seem to enjoy making webs between both cars on the drive.

I've got one in each mirror and I have decided to just leave them there, it's beginning to get cold so I'm sure they will soon be gone.

Simple solutions:

Bait the spider out by chucking a small bit of leaf to emulate a "catch" in his web and grab him when he is out.

or

Push mirror to extreme left/right so that you can see behind the mirror. Regardless if you can see him or not, break out the pressure washer and blast behind the mirror and keep an eye on the floor. They are persistant sometimes, but they will come out.

First time this year.
Never had them before and when I'm out of the area I don't look at peoples wing mirrors for some unknown reason.

whats worse is when they get in your motorbike mirrors ;/

i freaked out the other week when i was stopped at traffic lights, and noticed a spider bungee jumping down on to my arm (was a big ****** too). took my key out my ignition to get it off.
