Buying cars. Use cash, cheque, bank transfer?

When I bought the Focus I had the seller come to my office and made an online bank transfer whilst he watched. It was a little foolish on his part as I'm a bit of a nerd and I could easily have prepared a dummy Barclays online banking site (think phishing) in advance.

You can stop a bank transfer too if you're quick. I know this because I've done it in the past when I transferred a rather large sum in error.

Cash is always quicker and is better for the seller.....

Ive used bankers draught and waited for it clear when buying the 2 cars ive owned.

cash

even when i spent £35k it was still cash

did have a couple of mates with me for that deal though, still felt very vunerable!!

done £28.5K and £24K in cash before and having sold the CSL to someone in Belgium, I bought back £23K in cash on Eurostar! Didn't that so much with all the time it took to get back home and safe!

even selling and accepting cash id be wary due to forged notes. there will be a lot of notes to check/count. if theyre funky then you could be very out of pocket if you dont spot it

never leave home without one :)

dodgy notes usually stick out like a sore thumb, in the many many years of buying and selling cars I think I missed two notes (twenties), anymore I missed the bank did too :p

You would need to be blind and with no sense of touch to get caught with dodgy notes.
